We’re back!!!

We stepped back from posting during the pandemic because this account focuses on the things we do in Leytonstone and the surrounding areas. During the pandemic however, our volunteers were helping out with more national programmes such as becoming vaccinators or hospital volunteers or helping out online any way we could, and other accounts focused on celebrating these initiatives.

Leytonstone is primarily an event services unit and events are finally back, and as you can see here we’re back in the building for weekly volunteer training sessions! During the pandemic we also become an ambulance hub 😱🚑🚨

So over the coming weeks and months we’ll show you what we’ve been upto, how our building has changed, and what local events we’re supporting, see you out there soon!

Tonight on teams at 7:30 our unit manager Flora is hosting a quiz! The *Winner* gets an Easter Egg (via the post ofc) and two runners up get some mini ones!

The main round is First Aid related so get revising! For anyone in St John (or friends and family) that’d like to join in: message Flora Streeter on teams before tonight!

(Ps. 5 bonus points to the best outfit!)

At Leytonstone last night we wrote notes to hand out to our neighbours who might be in need to those who need it! Feel free to use this as a base for your own we all need to work together to get through this!

Happy New Year everyone! And a huge thank you to three of the team at Leytonstone who were on duty at the Thames fireworks last night until the early hours and are back at it already at todays game at West Ham! #2020 @ London Stadium

This evening some of our volunteers joined other local community groups to mark the 100th birthday of this gentleman and Normandy veteran - an absolute privilege and a true inspiration! Thank you for inviting us!

Tonight saw the last in our Patient Assessment Series. Tonight we explored assessment of a patients pain. We also had yet another new face join us as our unit continues to grow in numbers!! Thanks again to all who came and to all Leytonstone Members, new and veteran alike - you make our training nights awesome! You guys rock!! 👍💚💚

This week our Event First Aid volunteers continued on our Patient Assessment Training Series - this week we looked at all aspects pertaining to observations of a patients breathing (Respiratory System) - probably one of, if not the most important of all the observations!! Very nice to see more new recruits join us as we continue to grow!! 😁💚💚💚

Two weeks ago one of our amazing volunteers Flora Streeter saved the life of a colleague who suffered a heart attack and cardiac arrest in the office. Today he’s back at work with this amazing cake and a £100 donation to St John Ambulance to say thanks! Evidence that you really can 💚
