We are excited to announce that every third Monday of the month, we will be running an online Heart Circle ❤️‍🔥⭕️. The first session will take place on 16th March.

A heart circle is a structured, intentional gathering focused on emotional connection, deep listening, and speaking from the heart without judgment or advice.

Key aspects of a heart circle include:
Purpose: To move away from intellectual discussion and toward emotional expression and presence.
Structure: Participants sit in a circle, and typically only one person speaks at a time, allowing others to listen deeply without interrupting or offering feedback.
Origin: The practice is rooted in traditions like the Radical Faeries, the Edward Carpenter Community, and workshops created by Tej Steiner.
Format: As we are a voluntary organisation at present, the facilitator will be holding these sessions online.

Join us on Thursday 26th February at TACO! for a very special LGBT+ History Month event where Syeda Ali will be hosting a talk on 'Section 28: In & Outside The School gates'.

Drawing on oral history interviews with teachers and former pupils, this talk looks at what everyday school life was actually like during the Section 28 years. By bringing lived experience, memory, and history into conversation, the talk reflects on what remembering Section 28 can teach us today — about education, community, and the ongoing politics of 'protecting children'.

Syeda recently completed her PhD in History at the University of Cambridge, where her research explored the impact of Section 28 on schools in England. A former teacher, Syeda began her teaching career locally in Thamesmead during the era of Section 28 and is delighted to be returning to speak about her research, as part of LGBTQ+ History Month.

Doors will open at 5:30pm, with the talk commencing from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Attendees are welcome to stay afterwards for light refreshments and drinks available to purchase from the bar. Secure your tickets here - https://www.tickettailor.com/events/lgbtthamesmead/2057467
