'O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years!' Habakkuk 3:2 NKJV

The Bible likens the Christian life to a marathon. The writer of the book of Hebrews said: 'Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured' (Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV). Paul wrote to the Philippian believers: 'There is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining towards what is ahead, I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me' (Philippians 3:13-14 NCV).

Chances are you aren't at the starting line, nor are you at the finishing tape. You're somewhere in the middle. When running a race, the start is always filled with such enthusiasm and energy. And the finish holds such promise as we run the final stretch and reach our goal. But the middle of the race - when we are long past the start and not sure how far away the finish might be - is what often tests us. That's why the prophet Habakkuk wrote: 'O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years' (Habakkuk 3:2 NKJV)! It's in 'the midst' or the middle of the race that we need encouragement, that we need our second wind and that we need to refocus on the prize that awaits us.

Those who have run before us have passed the baton through the centuries, from generation to generation - without dropping it. What are you to do? Take the baton, run and keep running!

Resurrect your dream

'For God does speak...in a dream.' Job 33:14-15 NIV

God is the giver of dreams. 'For God does speak...in a dream, in a vision...when deep sleep falls on people' (Job 33:14-15 NIV). If you want the rest of your life to be fulfilled and inspired, take your dream out the closet and blow the dust off.

It's easy to get caught up in the 'have tos' of life - working; caring for children, spouses and ageing parents; taking care of homes, etc. But you must believe that you can resurrect your life and your dreams and believe you have the ability to tap into the enthusiasm you once felt for life. You must have the courage to face the disappointments of the past, take a good look at how you got off the path and see where you are headed. Then you have to silence the voice in your head that says: 'This is all there is. Who are you to want more from life? You can't do it; it's too late for you.' We give up on our dreams because we think that's what grown-ups are supposed to do. But as we mature, we realise that reaching for our dreams is what makes us feel alive.

The truth is that with love, prayer and great attention, your dream, like Lazarus, can be resurrected (see John 11:43). The secret of recapturing dreams is to enjoy the pursuit of the dream rather than focus on the outcome. Achievement in this case is not about position, fame or financial compensation, but about doing what you love. That's what Jesus promised: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10 NIV).

UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18).

In the Scriptures, it’s important to understand the context in which certain statements are made. Sometimes the same words are used in different passages but with entirely different meanings because the context is different. For example, the Lord Jesus used the expression “bind” and “loose” in both Matthew chapter 16 and Matthew chapter 18.

However, the subject or context in each passage is not the same. In Matthew 16:19, He said, “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven....” Here, the Lord Jesus was unveiling Kingdom authority, the authority of the Church to enforce the will of God in the earth. It’s about our authority to establish divine realities, to bring heaven’s will into manifestation and disallow anything contrary.

However, in Matthew 18, the subject is different. There, He addressed relationships and discipline within the Church. He explained how to resolve conflicts between brethren: first privately, then with witnesses, and, if necessary, before the church.

If the individual refused to hear the church, he was to be regarded as one outside the fellowship. It was in this context that He said, “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven” as read in Matthew 18:18. Here, He was speaking of the authority given to the Church to make decisions concerning order, discipline and fellowship within the house of God.

This reveals something important to note while studying the Scriptures: the same words may not always carry the same application. You’d have to do proper contextual analysis. If you ignore the context, you could misapply the Scripture. That’s why the Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Study to understand the Word in the right context; don’t interpret Scriptures based on assumption but with the wisdom and accuracy of the Spirit. That way, you’ll apply the Word rightly and exercise divine authority correctly, and walk in the fullness of the blessings of your nature and heritage in Christ.

PRAYER / CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you for the wisdom of your Word which guides my life and instructs me in righteousness. I have insight to rightly divide the Word of truth and apply it accurately in every situation. I walk in wisdom, exercise authority correctly, and contribute to the unity, order and growth of the body of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

(Transmitting Life through Words)

𝚃𝙾 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙱𝙸𝙱𝙻𝙴- 1 John 5:11-12
“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.…”

𝙻𝙴𝚃’𝚂 𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺
Eternal life isn’t just about living forever; it’s God’s life inside you right now, giving you confidence, strength, and purpose every day. It’s the God life in you, the organic and existential attributes of deity in you, which make you different from the natural man. This life makes you superior to Satan, sickness, disease, failure, and death.

The Lord Jesus didn’t come to give us religion; He came to give us the God-life (John 10:10). In John 10:27–28, He said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish….” It makes you indestructible and invincible. It means your life is not controlled by fear, peer pressure, failure, or negative opinions. It makes you a partaker of the divine nature. As one who’s born again and has received the God-life, you’re one hundred per cent divine in your spirit, even while living in a human body and going to school every day. You’re a hundred per cent divine despite having a human body.

Another beautiful truth is that you’re a distributor of that life—the God-life in you. God’s life in you is meant to affect your classmates, friends, and family. Anything and anyone you touch comes alive because you’re born in the image and similitude of the life giver, the Lord Jesus Christ, the second and last Adam (read 1 Corinthians 15:45–47 ESV). As He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17).

You’re a life-giver, a minister of life. Wherever you go, you bring healing, peace, and transformation. When you lay your hands on the sick, the life in you flows out of you to bring restoration. When you speak words of faith, life is transmitted into every situation. You’re not meant to blend in with negativity, gossip, or hopelessness. You’re of a higher class, a divine species, chosen and separated by God to manifest His life, glory, and righteousness in the earth. Hallelujah!
