Scum living in plain sight

Writing this breaks our hearts but, at around 17:10 today, our hospital was robbed...

A white male estimated to be between 25 and 30 entered our hospital reception and asked the receptionist for directions to a local garage. When this receptionist went to get someone local to help, this individual climbed over the reception counter and stole money from a locked cash box before jumping in a car and speeding away towards the A128.

In a time where every single pound counts this is devastating for the charity. Not only were the funds needed for our patients taken from us, but the generosity of all of you has now been stolen too. If anyone has any information please contact Essex Police quoting reference 42/117120/25

CCTV is being reviewed.

We know that funds are tight for everyone right now but, if you could help us with these vital funds we would be so much more than grateful ❤️

These things are a disaster for our wildlife !! Please don’t leave them out when not in use or at least gather the net up off the ground 🦊

Weighing just a third of what he should for his age, this tiny badger cub barely even got to experience wild life💔🥺.

On assessment, he had no wounds but was covered in fleas and ticks. He had been found “circling,” which suggested a possible neurological problem, so we kept him under close observation. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, this little cub didn’t survive, but his story highlights the serious challenges wildlife faces in these extreme conditions. The harsh dry spells have made life extremely tough for wildlife relying on soft ground to find food. The soil has been so hard that even healthy badgers struggle to dig for earthworms and insects, vital sources of nutrition.

This is the reality of our work; it’s only with your help that we can try our utmost to give these vulnerable animals a chance, but we must do all we can to improve the landscapes of where our patients come from.

Please, remember in this week’s extreme heat, to leave water sources out. Additionally, a lot of plants and shrubs are now producing fruits and berries, these are a massive lifeline for animals, like badgers, so, please, allow them to feed on these natural foods.
