🎉 A Birthday Night to Remember 🎉

Last Saturday, VFP's Dance Group came together for a warm, joyful evening at Evelyn Community Centre, Deptford - celebrating member Hương Trần's birthday and marking the group's 1st anniversary! 💃🕺

Over the past year, what began as a small group of dance enthusiasts has grown into a close, supportive community. Members have progressed from tentative first steps to confident, joyful dancers - proving that dance is more than an art form; it's a source of connection, fitness, and joy, especially for those navigating life far from home.

One thing we've noticed along the way: our Vietnamese and ESEA male community members remain a bit underrepresented on the dance floor! 😄 The ladies have been holding down the fort beautifully but we'd love to see more of our brothers, uncles, and friends join in. Everyone is welcome, dancer or not (yet)!

A huge thank you to our musicians, dance instructor Ngọc Sơn, and every member who has shown up, practiced, and shared in the joy this past year. Here's to more dancing, laughter, and community spirit ahead! 🌸

Tết Trung Thu 2026 is coming , and it's shaping up to be our biggest Mid-Autumn Festival yet. Now in its 23rd year, this is the largest Vietnamese community event in the UK, bringing together over 5,000 people from across Lewisham and beyond for a day of lion dancing, lanterns, food, and culture. 🐉🏮

We're looking for sponsors and partners who want to stand alongside us and the Vietnamese community in London. Whether it's a Platinum package or supporting a single activity, every contribution helps light up this celebration.

🧡 WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! 🧡

Whether you're part of the Vietnamese diaspora, a local who wants to experience Vietnamese culture, a student looking to build experience, or someone who's lived in Vietnam and wants to reconnect with the community — there's a place for you at VFP.

As a grassroots organisation, we reach and support over 10,000 people every year through VietSchool London, our Advice & Support Centre, and large-scale cultural events like Tết and Trung Thu.

This year, we're offering two pathways to get involved:

🌱 General Volunteers — Flexible roles: one-off, event-based, ad-hoc, or regular. We love welcoming back familiar faces, but we understand availability changes!

🚀 Event Management Leaders — Ready to challenge yourself and grow your career? We're recruiting for 4 core roles: Event Coordinator, Marketing Executive, Fundraising Support / Sponsor Liaison, and Volunteer Engagement Lead.

Look closely and you'll spot the inspiration behind it : the flower-shaped frame is inspired by the shape of a traditional mooncake, paired with the colours of our VFP logo 💛💙🧡. A little detail, but one we're really proud of!

You don't have to already speak Vietnamese to belong here. 💛

Maybe you grew up in a Vietnamese household but the language never quite stuck. Maybe you married into a Vietnamese family and you're ready to stop smiling and nodding at Tết dinners. Maybe your children are mixed heritage, and you want them to grow up proud of both sides of who they are.

Vietnamese Family Partnership (Gia Đình Việt), together with our education arm VietSchool London, is opening a new Lớp Tiếng Việt built exactly for families like yours.

🎉 Opening Day: Sunday, 13th September 2026 🎉
✅ Truly beginner-friendly — come with zero Vietnamese, that's completely fine
✅ Open to adults, teens, children (5+), and whole families learning together
✅ Real, practical conversation skills- not just grammar drills
✅ Online (Zoom) or in-person, weekends
✅ A warm, judgment-free community- however "rusty" or "in-between" you feel

Language is one of the deepest ways to feel like you belong-to your partner's family, to your children's heritage, or to a part of yourself you never got to fully claim. It's not too late to start.

✨ Celebrating 20 Years of Learning, Heritage & Community! ✨

Today, we officially closed another incredible academic year at VietSchool & VFP (Gia Đình Việt)! 🎓

From our humble beginnings in 2006 to running 6 highly successful online classes this year (4 for our brilliant children and 2 for our dedicated adults), we are so proud of how far we’ve come.

A massive thank you to our wonderful parents, guardians, and students. Your energy and support during our annual cultural events keep our heritage alive. We are also incredibly inspired by our "full-circle" community: our former young students returning to serve as Trustees, and our adult learners stepping up as leading volunteers to help our organisation grow! 🌟

Looking to the future:
We also discussed exciting next steps in our collaborative workshops today-exploring new ways to improve member engagement, expand our school activities, and connect with wider UK community events. This is especially vital as VFP (established in 2019 as a trusted community voice) continues fundraising to construct London’s historic first public Vietnamese monument: "Biểu tượng của người Việt" in 2027, marking over 50 years of our community's journey in the UK. 🗽❤️

Thank you to everyone who made today so special. Together, we are co-creating a lasting legacy for generations to come!
