LGBTQ+ people, like everyone else, have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to spend their last months, weeks, and days with the people they love.

Living with a terminal illness and getting the best care and support can be challenging for everyone. We all have individual needs and will have different experiences. Being LGBTQ+ may mean that you have specific concerns or questions, which we can help to answer, about getting the care and support you need. We're here for you πŸ’› Find out more: https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/pride

Did you know that 96% of our Fundraising Volunteers would recommend volunteering at Marie Curie?

Rosie, a fundraising volunteer in Yorkshire said β€œI love volunteering at Marie Curie. It’s a fantastic way of giving something back to my community. Volunteering a few hours of my time means I can support people having a better end of life. I would totally urge anyone to get involved as a Marie Curie volunteer”

We have spent the last week celebrating volunteers like Rosie as part of volunteer’s week, but we are looking for new volunteers to join the fun in their local communities. We have lots of opportunities to get involved, so why not take a look on our website here or get in touch at [email protected] to join one of our upcoming drop in sessions to hear about different roles.

πŸ’ What is a carer?

A carer is anyone who looks after a family member, friend or partner who needs extra help. This could be because they’re ill, have a disability or mental health problem. Carers are usually unpaid and can provide emotional and practical support, they are different to paid care workers who earn money for looking after someone.

⏱️ Did you know 55% of unpaid carers looking after a family member or friend take a year or more to realise they are caring?*

You can take our short quiz which may help you identify if you could be a carer and what help and support may be available to you ➑️ https://bit.ly/4koElhW
