When Lucy applied for her first Air League opportunity in 2019, she had just finished her GCSEs and had never flown an aircraft.

Today, she's training with the British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy after earning multiple Flying Scholarships, achieving her Private Pilot Licence, and building valuable experience across the aviation industry.

Determined to make her dream a reality, Lucy worked three jobs to fund her training, embraced every opportunity to learn, and built lasting friendships along the way. Her journey is a testament to what can be achieved through hard work, resilience and a passion for aviation.

What a fantastic day at the National Air and Space Camp (NASC) 2026 at RAF Syerston!

The team had a brilliant time meeting air cadets and connecting with industry professionals from across the aviation and aerospace sector. Even though the weather had other ideas later in the day, it certainly didn't dampen spirits.

With over 90 organisations in attendance, plenty of inspiring conversations, an incredible display from the Red Arrows, plus lots to see and do, there was something for everyone.

A special thank you to our volunteers, Joban and Chris, for helping make the day such a success.

We always enjoy being part of NASC and can't wait to do it all again next year!

Through our partnership with The Mason Foundation, the Department for Transport-funded Reach for the Skies programme has empowered neurodiverse young people to recognise their strengths, build confidence and discover exciting pathways into aviation, aerospace and space ✈️

Working with students from Cheadle Hulme High School and Laurus Ryecroft, the programme combined skills development, career exploration and confidence-building activities designed to showcase how strengths often associated with neurodiversity, including analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and attention to detail, are highly valued across the sector.

's CEO, Janine Hornsby, said: "Having delivered similar workshops before, I was amazed by how quickly these young people tackled and solved complex challenges. Their ability and potential were outstanding."

Together, we've helped young people recognise their potential, develop future-ready skills and see how their unique ways of thinking can help shape the future of aviation, aerospace and space.

THEY DID IT! 🎉🏔️

Against the backdrop of the breathtaking Italian Alps, Air League Scholars, Oliver Wright and Kamil Jazwinski, have successfully completed Project Ardua: an extraordinary 100km ultramarathon in under 24 hours.

This was never going to be easy. Months of training, preparation, sacrifice and unwavering determination led to this moment. Faced with steep climbs, tough terrain, fatigue and the mental challenge of pushing far beyond their comfort zones, Oliver and Kamil showed incredible resilience every step of the way.

Inspired by Per Ardua ad Astra ("Through Adversity to the Stars"), they took on one of the toughest challenges of their lives, not for personal glory, but to give back to and help create opportunities for future generations of young people in aviation.

We are beyond proud of what they have achieved. Their commitment, courage and selflessness embody everything The Air League stands for, and we are incredibly grateful that they chose to undertake this challenge in support of our mission.

Oliver and Kamil, you've inspired us all. Thank you for proving what is possible when ambition meets determination, and for helping ensure more young people can discover their own path to the stars.

Inspired by the RAF motto Per Ardua ad Astra ("Through Adversity to the Stars"), Oliver and Kamil are pushing themselves to the limit to help create life-changing opportunities for the next generation of young people in aviation.

We're pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 ATPL Theory Scholarships, helping aspiring commercial pilots take the next step towards their aviation careers.

Thanks to the generous and ongoing support of the BALPA Benevolent Fund, this year's scholars will be able to access essential ATPL Ground School training and move closer to achieving their ambitions of a career in aviation.

Kiran, who is pursuing the modular training route alongside a full-time career in cybersecurity, is one of seven scholars taking a significant step closer to the flight deck through this year's programme.
