Merton Rotary took a stall at Merton Abbey Mills this weekend selling our beautiful up-cycled blouses and skirts in aid of our health and well-being project for the borough of Merton in collaboration with Sport in Mind - more to follow. It was a hot day yesterday at the Morden Family Fun Day. The Rotary Club of Merton was there with its Hoopla, Play Your Cards Right, Soft Toys Tombola and Lucky Cards.

Our first customer at today’s Morden Family Fun Day was the Mayor of Merton who showed everybody how to play Hoop-la. We also had Play Your Cards Right and a Soft Toy Tombola.

This afternoon Merton Rotary exhibited its Furoshiki (environmentally-friendly gift wrapping) and blouses, kaftans and bags made from up-cycled jeans, saris and tablecloths at the Rotary South annual barbecue at Dorking Rugby Club.

Today we held a Learn to Play Rummikub session outside The Willow Bough Tea Room in Merton Abbey Mills, our fourth such session. It gives us a chance to talk to passers-by and our aim is to extend the reach of Rummikub, which is a very enjoyable game. On July 2nd we will be launching our ‘Sport in Mind’ initiative for Health and Wellbeing across the borough of Merton at Merton Abbey Mills - more to follow in due course.

Angeles and Rosemary were delighted to visit a Wednesday evening meeting of the 2nd Morden Scout Group in Connaught Gardens, Morden (Wandle district) where young people between the ages of 10 1/2 and 14 were having fun playing games and building karts using their knotting skills. They had recently returned from Family Camp and have a full and varied programme planned for future months. Merton Rotary is hoping that Scouts from 2nd Morden will participate in some of our Young Rotary competitions and schemes.
