An exhibition showcase the photography of .friends young people exploring stories of soil.

Terra Firma Framed is the culmination of a project celebrating geo diversity, as part of a collaboration between youth empowerment charity and and aspiring UNESCO cross-channel global geo park.

Last week we were The White Cliffs of Dover w/ & .blue.dot.collective !

The amazing .beer & gave us quite the introduction exploring the cosmic significance of the climate crisis & the art created through their collective ✨🌗.

We also had Melanie Wrigley from the acconpying us with the young people, telling us the history of the beautiful White Cliffs of Dover & it’s special ecology!

We then walked (in rather testing weather) to the lighthouse, where participants were encouraged to listen to the sounds of the environment through an amplified guano 🎧 & take images of things that felt significant to them!

Some BTS of the group of wonderful students from 👏. Their positivity & eagerness to learn & document the day really added to the amazing session!

tasked the young people on our SE Kent ‘Youth Empowerment Programme’ with documenting Folkestone’s old high street & the hidden parts that could tell us more about the human story ✨.

She encourage students to strike up conversation with their chosen subjects to create a comfortable atmosphere in which to shoot!

It was wonderful to see the images after the session & how the students each had their own unique viewpoint of the place 📸.

It was a great day & yet again the students wowed up with their hard work & commitment 🥰.

Some wonderful shots taken by the fab young people on the SE Kent Youth Empowerment Programme ✨

We visited , a dive bar / burger joint ran by the wicked Nathan ✨he cooked up his delish menu & with the help of , the young people photographed the food & funky space ✅.

A big thank you to Nathan for waking up extra early & facilitating a busy day with us!

We’re enormously grateful to all those that participate on our courses, as well as to those that host us & the photographers we work with 👏💕; we wouldn’t be able to run our programmes without you!

Last week we began our partnership course with 🪻🌱 it was a wonderful session & has only made us more excited for the programmed future sessions!

Due to some unforseen events we have a few spaces left on the FREE course 💫. Despite a torrential downpour 🌧 on Tuesday evening we began our partnership course with . We visited & not only did we explore the terrain, but we also have the lovely Louella from to tell us all about the plants & the ecology of the place 🌱.

Once we’d walked around the grounds we then started to think of potential areas that would be good to do some light painting 🔦 we had James ( ) to show our students exactly what to do (we learnt that James is also a landscaper & tree surgeon, & had bundles of plant knowledge to add to the day)!

Although the weather was not exactly ideal, the young people wowed us with their enthusiasm & positivity despite the wet & muddy conditions we were dealt 👀 because of this attitude, we had a fantastic session despite the elements ✨.

@10.years.time is a collage studio, workshop & gallery space in Folkestone. Ran by Charlie Elms, a collage artist, graphic designer & art director hand makes his collages, meticulously choosing images from old books & publications 📓.

With the help of .uk the young people captured Charlie’s happy energy & his beautiful collages. Some of the challenges they faced was a busy high street & a small shop front, but that didn’t stop them from getting the best shots that they could ✅.

Once again the young people excelled & got some great shots ✨.

Week 4 of our South East Youth Empowerment Programme found us @ the wonderful with Hannah. We also had the wonderful on hand 2 help mentor the young people ✨.

It was a great day & it allowed us to try something new in terms of photography with the group. Not only we’re the asked 2 capture Hannah & the shop interiors, but they also had a go @ some BTS of Hannah working, as well as some product photography 💍👑!

Once again the students captured the shop & Hannah wonderfully ✅.

are a mother daughter duo, designing fun & unusual acrylic jewellery! The jewellery is themed around things they love, such as science, space, nature & music 🎵. Life’s 2 short 4 boring jewellery anyways hehe…

We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Positive View Foundation!⠀
⠀
📸 Together we're offering a ✨FREE✨ 10-session photography course for 16-25 years olds, based in South East Kent, who are currently not in education, training or employment. ⠀
⠀
The course will start on 15th March and will run through to September. And best of all, there is no experience or kit required! Cameras, travel and lunch will all be provided for you. ⠀
⠀
🌱 At the heart of the programme will be the crucial role of soil & the importance it has for so many processes, such as plant growth, storing & cleaning water as well as regulating the carbon cycle.

Each session of the course will be led by professional photographers and will use a different medium of photography to explore soil health. Documenting a farm playing a crucial role in turning green waste into compost is just one of the things we’ll be doing!
