British Beauty Week returns from 12–25 October.

A two-week natiowide celebration showcasing ‘The Impact of Beauty’ and shining a spotlight on the industry’s creativity, social and cultural influence and economic contribution.

The week kicks off with Industry Day on 12th October in Covent Garden bringing together the industry’s leading voices, brands, innovators and policymakers for a day of conversation, insights, demo’s and networking.

Beauty leaders whose work spans cosmetics, hairdressing, advocacy and community impact were recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours List.

Congratulations Charlotte Tilbury who receives a CBE for her services to beauty and cosmetics. British Beauty Council Advisory Board member Sali Hughes and Jo Jones, co‑founders of Beauty Banks, have been awarded MBEs for their work tackling hygiene poverty, an important acknowledgement of the positive impact our industry help deliver. Creative HEAD Magazine founder Catherine Handcock is also honoured with an OBE, recognising her contribution to elevating and championing the UK’s hairdressing community.

Today we welcome the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment (COMARE) report, which aligns directly with the recommendations to tighten sunbed regulation and protect public health in the Beauty, Hair and Wellbeing APPG's UV Safety report. With the Government’s consultation on sunbed regulation now open, we’re calling on industry and the public to take part and drive meaningful change.

Together with Futures For All the British Beauty Council hosted the first in‑person work experience placement with The GelBottle Inc, welcoming students to a two‑day careers and skills experience.

Across the two days, local college students completed the Gel Beginners Course led by TGB Academy, leaving with a recognised beginner gel qualification and first‑hand experience using professional products and techniques.

Through education, inclusivity and industry collaboration, the British Beauty Council works to promote diverse career pathways, professional development and accessibility across the beauty industry - to help build a skilled future workforce.

The Government has launched a consultation on sunbed regulation following the publication of the UV Safety Report from the All Party Parliamentary Group for Beauty, Hair & Wellbeing.

Carolyn Harris MP, Chair of the APPG welcomes this move as an important step in supporting the National Cancer Plan and reducing preventable cancers and encourages public participation.
