Wave Walkers - Dragon Boat Team

Wave Walkers - Dragon Boat Team London's first dragon boat team for people affected by cancer. We welcome anyone to paddle with us. We meet every weekend at Royal Docks Adventure in London.

The sessions are for people affected by cancer: some of us have cancer, some of us had cancer, some of us support people affected by cancer. We have a range of fitness levels and we prioritise having fun on the water, improving individual fitness, and being part of a brilliant team! Wave Walkers is supported by Windy Pandas

One of our team needs your help πŸ’š

One of our Wave Walkers who wants to remain anonymous is going through cancer treatment and has hit a major roadblock. The treatment they need is not available on the NHS, which means it is not free or immediately accessible to them.

We can help them raise the funds they need to access this treatment privately.

Wave Walkers support each other and come together in times of need. If you’re able to donate, any contribution will help towards getting them the treatment they need.

And please share the fundraiser far and wide. The more people we can reach, the more chance we have of getting them to their target πŸ’š

Cancer treatment is difficult at the best of times. Please consider signing this petition to help make a much-needed treatment available to those who need it.

Access to the best possible cancer treatment is hugely personal to many of our members here at Wave Walkers, and we’re proud to do our bit to help make a difference for others too.

Please sign and share if you can. πŸ’š

Enhertu, for HER2-low metastatic breast cancer, is a drug that could extend thousands of lives. But it was rejected for use on the NHS in 2024 for being too expensive. Since then, thousands of people have missed out on the drug. And many have died. Robbed of the extra time it could have given to the...

Another energetic training session this Sunday! πŸ‰πŸ’ͺ
We share the dock with Raging Dragons Dragonboat UK, so this week we teamed up! It was a great opportunity to work with another team and to get a different perspective and feedback on your paddling skill and technique.

As always, we made sure the hard work was fun too, with plenty of laughs and, obviously, selfie breaks!πŸ˜‚

We were especially happy to have our helm Debs back with us, easing her way in after injury. And delighted to welcome two of our newer paddlers, who are taking to dragon boating like....well dragons to water! 🌊

Another brilliant morning of teamwork, training and fun on the water 😎🀩

We were really excited to welcome a few guest paddlers to our boat yesterday. Thank you to everyone who travelled, got up early, and gave dragon boating a go for the very first time!

Making space in our team for new members and guest paddlers is really important to us. It's how we build the welcoming, inclusive community we want to be part of, and we hope everyone left with a smile and a new appreciation for our sport.

Despite supporting England into the wee hours of the morning, we still made it out to training today! 😴πŸ’ͺ

And we were rewarded with a beautiful morning out on the water, escaping the summer city heat. The water temperature at The Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre | DSWC London is currently a balmy 24Β°C! β˜€οΈ

If you fancy escaping the heat and joining us on the water, come along on Sunday mornings, 9:30am–12pm. We're just 5 mins from Kaneary Wharf! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
