“The process of writing a song, to this day, is still like magic.”

Storytelling is integral to ’s music, as her distinctive blend of folk and pop weaves together tales of different characters.

Her latest EP, Jailbird, does exactly this, drawing from her time spent working in a men’s prison and personal struggles with heartbreak and isolation.

Ahead of her Elgar Room performance next week (Wed 17 Jun), we caught up with her at her London home, where her music and visual art sit side by side, to discover her creative process.

She’ll be supported by Scottish songwriter and saxophonist .
