We launched in Slough in January 2012, our aim being to educate and empower our Sisters of today. We realized that as women in today’s society there are many issues that we face, which may include, struggles at school, university, family, in-laws, work and social pressures. However, we as women hold incredible power and the beauty is that, within our souls, there is great strength. The light, ener
gy, love and compassion a woman beholds is truly indescribable, it is above all words. It is this light, Guru Nanak Dev Ji saw within us, he gave women a high status where in earlier times, women were acknowledged as second-class citizens and were made to feel inferior by society. Women in Sikh History, have proven to serve the Guru through valour and potency, it is so monumental that we seek inspiration from this today. Kaurs Corner is aimed at young women regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. We are here to help each other and grow into strong women, mothers, sisters, wives, sevadars of the Sikh nation and to become respectable members of outside society. The only way to do this is through love, Gurbani and understanding the light within us. It is important to build a relationship with our inner selves also. We hope to inspire women and bring our sisters together by holding workshops, camps, activities and question and answer sessions, by providing a forum for women to come together and share their experiences and issues with one another.
