✍️USPUK is Registered Charity helping Ukrainian and Afghan refugees rebuilt their lives in the UK.

We provide resettlement support for Afghans under the ACRS and ARAP schemes who arrived in the UK.

Wherever there is a discussion on Afghan refugees, we try to be present to listen, join the conversation and contribute.

On Monday 30th March, Shawn VanDiver, Founder and President of AfghanEvac, was in London for a conversation on the situation of Afghan refugees, including education, health and resettlement.

The event was organised collaboratively by Afghan British Council, Afghan Development Academy and others, bringing together organisations, journalists, activists and academics.

We will continue to be part of these spaces and continue supporting Afghans in the UK where we can.

Fully Funded Financial Workshops in London

Following the success of last year’s session, we have scheduled three in-person financial workshops at the USPUK office in London this spring in partnership with .

These sessions will cover useful topics such as understanding the UK financial system, banking, budgeting and saving.

These sessions are completely free and will provide practical guidance on
- understanding the UK financial system and banking,
- budgeting and saving
- safe money practices.

Empowering the Afghan Community through Financial Education

Last week, .afg in partnership with Charity, hosted a free Credit & Borrowing Workshop for the Afghan community. Around 15 participants joined us to learn about credit sources, informal lending, credit scores, debt management, and practical financial tips for everyday life.

Following the session, our USPUK Afghan team provided one-to-one consultations to answer personal questions and offer tailored support. These sessions proved extremely beneficial, helping participants feel more confident about managing their finances and understanding the UK system.

We are grateful for the community’s active participation and feedback — and proud to see how educational initiatives like these empower Afghan families to build financial stability and independence in the UK.

FREE LEGAL SUPPORT on Employment Rights for Afghans in the UK

USPUK is taking part in a new upskilling programme by the Work Rights Centre (WoRC) to help Ukrainians and Afghans understand their employment rights and access fair work opportunities.

🔹 We’re looking for Ukrainians and Afghans in the UK who:
> have questions about working conditions, pay, holiday, or dismissal;
> want to understand their employment rights;
> have faced unfair treatment or violations from an employer;
> have been unfairly dismissed and wish to challenge it.

📅 Sessions will take place on selected dates in December, January, and February, either online or in person at our London office. Participants will receive free 2-hour consultations with qualified employment law specialists, with translation support from the USPUK team.

2 people in the team. 842 consultations. One mission — to help rebuild lives.

Since the beginning of January 2025, our Afghan Resettlement team at USPUK, led by Anil Qasemi (Project Lead) and Nasir Salehzada (Community Manager), have responded to and conducted over 842 consultations and support interactions.

Together, just the two of them, they’ve been doing fundamental, life-changing work for the Afghan community across the UK by providing advice, guidance, and support every single day. From completing complex forms and housing applications to offering emotional reassurance and signposting to the right services — they do it all.

Their dedication shows that even a small team can make a huge impact when driven by compassion, trust, and commitment to community.

Our one-to-one consultations continue as usual.
