FCDO Grant Eligibility Requirements (2025 Programme)

To qualify for consideration under the Africa Grants funding framework, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Organizational Status

Be a registered entity (NGO, CBO, foundation, cooperative, social enterprise, or SME) with valid incorporation documents in their country of operation.

Have a minimum of 2 years of active operations and a demonstrable track record of project implementation.

2. Governance & Compliance

Maintain a functioning board or management committee.

Hold an operational bank account in the organization’s legal name.

Demonstrate compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations through verification.

3. Financial Capacity

Have an annual operational budget and proper bookkeeping or audited statements.

Be capable of meeting minimal administrative or legal fees linked to compliance or documentation processing.

Show readiness to provide co-funding or in-kind contributions (where applicable).

4. Project Alignment

Projects must align with at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and demonstrate measurable community impact in areas such as:

Education and skills development

Healthcare and public health

Women and youth empowerment

Climate resilience and sustainable agriculture

Economic inclusion and livelihoods

Renewable energy and green innovation

5. Geographic Focus

Priority is given to initiatives operating in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in regions facing socioeconomic or climate-related challenges.

6. Accountability & Reporting

Be willing to submit quarterly progress and financial reports.

Accept monitoring and evaluation visits from Africa Grants field officers.

7. Disqualification Conditions

Applications will be deemed ineligible if:

The organization is not legally registered or lacks operational capacity.

The applicant seeks personal or individual financial assistance.

There is evidence of misrepresentation or non-compliance with due-diligence procedures.
