We are excited to share Paragon’s impact story with you today! 🎶

Music for All awarded two high-quality pianos for Paragon’s inclusive music programme that allows disabled musicians to create, rehearse and perform their own music with more confidence, independence and creative freedom.

Since receiving the keyboards, they have been in continuous use in both one-to-one sessions and group workshops, offering music-making opportunities in Glasgow and in rural areas like Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan, New Galloway, Kirkcudbright, Newton Stewart and Sanquhar. Opportunities here are limited due to the lack of access to reliable, professional instruments. The instruments offered disabled young people the opportunity to develop their own musical voices through composition, improvisation and performance.

🗣️ They say: “The keyboards will continue to be a core resource within Paragon’s mentoring and workshop programmes, supporting new cohorts of disabled musicians in the years ahead. They have strengthened our ability to deliver high-quality, inclusive music sessions across both urban and rural settings and will remain central to our creative practice. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Music for All, its Trustees and supporters. Your generosity has made a tangible difference, helping remove barriers to music-making and enabling disabled musicians to express themselves creatively, confidently and independently.”

We are thrilled to see how much impact our support can make on people’s lives. Did you know that Music for All doesn’t receive any government funding? We rely fully on people like you to be able to offer music-making opportunities to all communities and individuals. To allow us to be able to support more of these fantastic initiatives like this, please consider becoming a Music for All Champion 💙

We used to believe that our brain would be fully developed at a certain age and then remain that way. But research found that this is not the case! Our brain is constantly growing and changing, never staying the same. But: we need to keep exercising our brains to encourage that healthy growth and change.

One of the most effective workouts is making music. Music training can bring structural and functional modifications to the brain in response to the experiences and practice, but also to support recovery after injury. Hence, music-making can be seen as the equivalent of a full-body workout, supporting healthy brain development at all ages and stages of life.

This is why we advocate for equal music-making opportunities for everyone. Sign the Music Makers’ Charter if you agree! It only takes a minute 🧡

We are excited to share the ‘Find Your Voice’ project by [Stronger Together] that Music for All supported with an award. Find Your Voice is an amazing course that encourages people to join in and sing, no matter their skill level.

The sessions were open to everyone, especially those who thought themselves unable to sing, and were offered free of charge.

Their project coordinator says: “The sessions were enormously well received, with 34 individuals attending, an excellent number for a totally new service [...]. We have already received many requests for further sessions!”

We are always excited to see how you use our grants! But did you know that Music for All doesn’t receive any government funding? We fully rely on amazing people like you to be able to offer music-making opportunities to everyone. Check out this video of Sudbourne Primary School’s Spring Sing!

Music for All awarded Sudbourne Primary School funding to purchase instruments to support their recent addition of a specialist music teacher, who runs weekly music sessions at the school. Now they have access to a greater range of instruments, the students have loved putting on musical events which have included two Spring Sings, a Winter Sing, and a Musical Extravaganza. Subourne Primary School's music department is now thriving!

Research shows that the benefits of music making at all ages are undeniable. We believe everyone should have access to music making opportunities at all ages. For us to support more of these fantastic initiatives, please consider donating via this link: https://musicforall.enthuse.com/donate #!/
