About the Saturday Club Trust
The Saturday Club Trust is an independent charity dedicated to the growth and development of Saturday Clubs in the UK. Our story
When we first piloted the National Art& Design Saturday Club in 2009, we had a clear vision to create a 21st century version of the Saturday art classes that our fou
nders, Sir John & Lady Sorrell, and many other leading figures from today’s creative industries attended from the 1950s to the 1970s. From a pilot with 4 colleges, we hoped that the network would grow. Over the past 7 years, it had indeed grown and flourished, reaching over 50 locations and thousands of young people across the country. As well as proving highly successful for Art&Design, it became clear that the Saturday Club model could equally be applied to other subjects and sectors. So, in 2015, we piloted our first Science&Engineering club. The results were fantastic and we now have 4 clubs up and running, with more in the pipeline for next year. In 2016, we piloted 2 Fashion&Business clubs and our first Writing&Talking club will launch in Autumn 2016. But it doesn’t stop there. We believe that the tried and tested Saturday Club model now has the potential to reach wider and further.
“
We believe that every 13-16 year old should have the opportunity to study subjects they love on Saturdays at their local university or college. Over the academic year, their Saturday Club tutors and industry professionals will build their skills, nurture their talents and inspire them towards further and higher education and careers that will be right for them.”

About the Sorrell Foundation
Frances and John Sorrell established the Sorrell Foundation in 1999 with the aim of inspiring creativity in young people. The charity has since worked with more than 10,000 young people across the UK on a range of programmes, including joinedupdesignforschools, the Young Design Programme, Myplace and Design Out Crime. Inspired by the Saturday art classes that both Frances and John had attended as teenagers, the Foundation piloted the National Art&Design Saturday Club in 2009 and developed the model until 2016, when the Saturday Club Trust was formed.
