Happy World Steelpan Day 🌍

In a world where so much is competing for our young people’s attention, there’s something really special about seeing them choose steelpan.

Choosing to show up week after week. To practise. To learn. To commit to their bands, develop their skills and keep pushing themselves to get better.

Steel the Show is about giving that commitment a stage. Watching so many young pannists come together, represent their bands and celebrate this instrument reminds us that steelpan isn’t just part of our history it has a future, and they are it.

This year feels even more special as we celebrate 75 years since TASPO brought steelpan to Britain from those pioneers in 1951 to a new generation proudly carrying it forward today.

And the journey continues.

Next stop: Panorama. 🎶

As part of the UK National Steelpan Competition, Junior Panorama gives our young pannists another opportunity to come together, represent their bands, perform and enjoy the music they’ve worked so hard to learn.

We can’t wait to see them take to the stage again. 🥁❤️

60 years. One Carnival. A legacy we must protect.

This year, as Notting Hill Carnival marks its 60th anniversary, our CEO shares a message about where we’ve come from and what we owe to the generations who come next.

Because Carnival is more than a weekend.
More than colour.
More than sound.
More than a celebration.

It is culture. It is community. It is history. It is belonging.

And after 60 years, celebration must come with responsibility.

To the people who built Carnival.
To the young people carrying it forward.
To the artists, masqueraders, steelbands, sound systems and communities who keep its spirit alive.

This is our culture. And it deserves RESPECT.

As we celebrate, we also remember.

At 3pm on both days of Notting Hill Carnival, we invite everyone to join us in a 72-second silence 🕊️💛

We will remember the 72 lives tragically lost in the Grenfell Tower fire, as well as members of our community who we have sadly lost 💚

We will also give thanks to the pioneers who are no longer with us, those whose vision, courage and commitment assured Carnival’s vital legacy.

60 years behind us.
60 years ahead of us.

The legacy continues. The responsibility is ours.
