This Black History Month, we’re celebrating the people, stories and contributions that have shaped Britain and continue to inspire change today.

Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting stories from across Black British history and the communities making an impact today — recognising their contributions, celebrating progress and continuing conversations around equality and social justice.
Follow along throughout the month.

This Black History Month, we’re opening an important conversation about race, housing and homelessness in London.

Black people are almost four times more likely to experience homelessness than people who are White. But what is driving this inequality, and what needs to change?

Join Who Is Hussain London for Intersectionality and Housing: Exploring Black Homelessness in London, bringing together a panel of voices to explore the realities behind the statistics and what meaningful change could look like.

📅 Tuesday 20 October | 6:30–8 PM
📍 Birkbeck, University of London

Hear from Ali as he shares how volunteering became a hobby he shared with his grandfather, and how that experience inspired him to continue giving his time to others.

Volunteering can mean something different to everyone — a chance to give back, meet new people, make a difference, or even carry forward something meaningful from those who inspired us.

Our volunteers came together across four London boroughs to clean up our streets and shared spaces, joined by Councillor Iman Ahmadi Moghaddam and Councillor Najeeb Warsame in Brent.

A great effort from everyone who got involved and gave their time to care for our local communities.

World Cleanup Day may be over, but looking after our environment is something we can all do every day. Let’s pledge to keep our shared spaces clean.

Hear from Cllr Iman Ahmadi Moghaddam and Cllr Najeeb Warsame on why they joined our volunteers in Brent for World Cleanup Day.

It was great to see local leaders and community members coming together to take care of the spaces we all share.

A huge thank you to both councillors for joining us and supporting the effort!

Four boroughs. One day. One incredible team.

Today, our volunteers took on World Clean Up Day, heading across four London boroughs to clean up our streets and shared spaces.

Here’s our Team Lead, Kumail, wrapping up a brilliant day of community action.

A huge thank you to every volunteer who gave their time today — and to everyone who stopped to encourage us along the way!
