BRT is a UK registered charity established to facilitate regeneration and development work in rural Bangladesh through education, health, livelihood & annual heritage tour initiatives. The Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK ("BRTUK") is a UK registered charity established to carry out various forms of community regeneration and developmental work across Bangladesh. We primarily concentrate on three

main areas of development; Health, Education and Livelihood as well as support seasonal and disaster relief work. Bangladesh belongs to the poorest group of countries in the world with around 160 million people living on a small piece of densely populated land. The World Bank's World Development indicators puts Bangladesh 170th place (out of 207 countries) in the global ranking of gross national income per capita. Bangladesh is characterised by extreme poverty, with the majority of the people living below the poverty line with no access to adequate healthcare and no means of earning. BRTUK provides a platform for you to support various projects, primarily within Sylhet but extending to other parts of Bangladesh as well. BRTUK focuses efforts on the three key areas of development:

Promoting education

Creating livelihood schemes

Supporting healthcare

Currently, we have built a school and college in a rural part of Bangladesh called Biswanath; providing much needed education facilities for women and need your support. Please help us to provide the basic facilities to teach under-privileged children. Our pioneering project is the Student Investment Programme (SIP). Where we use people on the ground to identify highly talented, but poor students and support their academic progression until and unless they become something special eg. We currently have 16 students and want to double this number by end of 2016. Projects under Health - we have recently provided an 'Eye Camp' to have eye tests and cataract operations for poor villagers. We have also distributed water wells and water filters. Our vision is to have a 24 hours mobile health care service going to the 'hard to reach' communities. Under Livelihood - we have distributed goats, sewing machines and rickshaws to poor villagers. Our vision is to provide a tool hire service and also have a female-managed garment industry recycling clothing from the UK.

🗣️BRT Community Sports & Fun Day a Resounding Success‼️

On Saturday 1st August 2026, Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK (BRT) hosted its first-ever Community Sports & Fun Day at Jim Peters StadiumJim Peters Stadium, Mayesbrook Park, Upney, bringing together more than 500 members of the local community for a memorable day of sport, family fun, networking and community unity.

The event was delivered in partnership with the Muslim Community Association and Boxers Fitness Academy (BFA), marking the first collaboration between the three organisations and laying the foundations for stronger partnerships and future community initiatives.

A major highlight was the football tournament, organised and led by MCA on the adjoining green space, with 16 teams competing in a lively and competitive series of matches. Meanwhile, BFA brought energy to the stadium track with an action-packed Boot Camp and fitness drills, encouraging participants of all abilities to get active.

The TKO Boxing Club was also open as usual, providing an opportunity for visitors to see the club in action and showcase the talent and dedication of its boxers.

BRT played a key role in bringing together a wide range of sponsors, traders, community organisations and activity providers. A particular attraction was the unique Fresh Krishi Ltd UK vegetable market, alongside a fantastic selection of stalls and vendors offering ice cream, burgers, toys, cupcakes, mojitos, perfumes and clothing.

There was plenty for younger visitors too, with bouncy castles and Connect 4, while MCA provided additional food stalls and organised activities including the ever-popular Tug of War and Balloon Busting, keeping adults and families entertained throughout the day.

The event was officially opened in the presence of MCA Central President Hamid Azad, who attended as Chief Guest, alongside BRT Chairman Ibrahim Ali, and numerous executive members and community representatives.

With more than 500 people attending, the day demonstrated the strength, diversity and enthusiasm of the local community. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring people together through sport, recreation, family activities and community engagement.

The success of this inaugural event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the volunteers, organisers, sponsors, partners, participating teams, traders and community organisations who contributed their time, resources and expertise.

BRT is proud of what was achieved through this first partnership with MCA and BFA. The overwhelming response provides an excellent platform to build on this collaboration, strengthen future partnerships, attract an even wider audience and deliver more impactful community events in the future.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make BRT Community Sports & Fun Day 2026 such a resounding success.
