upLIFT: Stories Of Joy - 💥 Artist Callout! 💥

In collaboration with Bloomsbury Festival 2026.

We are excited to announce the third event of 'The Bloomsbury Weekender' at Bloomsbury Festival 2026 - and we invite you to bring it to life alongside us!

We're calling out to artists across disciplines to participate in our first scratch night, centered on the theme 'Stories Of Joy'. From dreams that have become true, to those out-of-the-blue triumphs - we’ll be celebrating everything that brings the best out of us.

We believe wholeheartedly that the key to community empowerment through art is to lift each other up, especially those who yearn to create but do not have a platform. This is what upLIFT is all about - lifting up hidden voices, unknown perspectives and marginalised bodies, so they can be witnessed, heard and recognised with support.

D'you think you've got an original piece of work - be it finished, a work-in-progress or complete first-draft - that you'd love to share? Then we want to hear from you!

Check out our criteria in the carousel, and email your submission (via Google Drive, WeTransfer or an unlisted YouTube Video) to [email protected]. Please feel free to ask us any questions via this email address or Insta DM, too.

💥 Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, 9th September at 11:59pm! 💥

We can't wait to hear from you - let's make this happen!

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

Nuns With Tattoos.

We conclude 'The Bloomsbury Weekender' at Bloomsbury Festival 2026 with our subversive and captivating cabaret, Nuns With Tattoos, first performed at Phoenix Arts Club in 2024.

Created by Esther Foga, British-Jamaican q***r Christian artist and the Co-Artistic Director of The Avieli Arthouse, Nuns With Tattoos is an intimate voyage of self-discovery, in which we encounter personal and verbatim stories exploring taboos, dichotomies and identity amidst contradiction.

With original songs written by Foga, pop ballads and Musical Theatre crowd pleasers, Esther poses the question, both to you and herself: “Who are you when no one’s in the room?”

Come through for The Bloomsbury Weekender's wonderful finale! 🙏🏾

Tickets are available in our bio ✊🏾

En Route To The Bloomsbury Weekender: Strategy.

Behind the scenes, we're hard at work to deliver an intricate, thoroughly considered body of work at Bloomsbury Festival 2026.

On Saturday, we completed our strategy map, helping us to set targets, support communities, cultivate collaborations and foreground emerging voices.

It's a labour of love which takes time, patience, communication and perseverance. Thankfully, every minute spent and decision made is leading us towards something beautiful. Especially when you are working in the Southbank Centre for the afternoon.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements!
