Deepening the understanding of survivor-centred healthcare for male victims/survivors of s*xual violence through ethically grounded, context-specific research over the past 10 years is one way ASP works to strengthen service providers’ responses to victims/survivors of CRSV.

As part of this ongoing work, ASP has engaged with Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF to share research findings from our multi-country healthcare report, released in December of 2025. Laura Pasquero and Patricia Ollé Tejero delivered a session to MSF teams across multiple regions, presenting evidence on survivor-centred healthcare for men and boys who are victims/survivors of s*xual violence in , , and the .

Key discussion points included:
💡 What survivor-centred care looks like from victims/survivors' own perspectives.
💡 Multi-layered barriers to healthcare access for male victims/survivors.
💡 How to adapt interventions to specific operational contexts.

We are deeply grateful to all the MSF advisors, project teams, and referents who accompanied and contributed to this research — from the advisory group to field implementation.

Every child should grow up free from fear, violence, and stigma.

Today is Blue Umbrella Day, the international day for the protection of boys from s*xual violence.

The Global Alliance for the Protection of Boys from Sexual Violence (GAPB) was launched in 2025 as a joint project calling for more inclusive prevention, response, and mitigation of violence against boys. We join our fellow founding members ECPAT International, Equimundo, Family for Every Child, Physicians for Human Rights, Save the Children, Women's Refugee Commission in calling for robust and sustainable protection of boys.

Sexual violence against children is one of the most urgent human rights issues of our time. It affects children of all genders and backgrounds, shaped by identity, circumstance, and context. Yet too often, the specific experiences of boys are left out of the picture.

Earlier this month, ASP hosted its annual strategy retreat in London. We were thrilled to meet as a team to plan for our upcoming year. We have a busy year ahead of us as we continue work to prevent conflict-related s*xual violence against men and boys, and strengthen access to both justice and healthcare for victims/survivors.

We spent the week discussing our current organisational strategy, similarities and differences between our work across Colombia and Ukraine, and mapping out our upcoming work.

Stay tuned for more updates in 2026 as we celebrate 10 years of All Survivors Project.

✋Child recruitment and use expose children—including boys—to heightened risks of conflict-related s*xual violence. These harms often remain hidden, underreported, and insufficiently addressed in prevention and reintegration efforts.

As part of 2026, The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action encourages practitioners and policymakers to explore evidence from the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict on how these risks manifest in different contexts, including Colombia and the Central African Republic.

Understanding the full spectrum of harm is essential to strengthening prevention, protection, and survivor-centred reintegration responses.

Today, 12 February, we raise red hands in solidarity with each of the thousands of children and adolescents who have been recruited and used by armed groups during the Colombian armed conflict. Recruitment into armed groups poses countless risks for children. This includes the risk of s*xual violence, causing physical and mental health problems and creating barriers to the restoration of their rights and reintegration into their families and communities.

Today we paint our hands red for children who are victims of armed conflict and victims of recruitment in armed groups. We call for their protection from s*xual violence and for a future where every child can grow up with dignity, peace and justice.

In 2026, we celebrate our 10-year anniversary at All Survivors Project!

In the current period of increasing international instability and deepening global conflicts, survivor-centred work focussing on the needs, access, and agency of victims/survivors of conflict is crucial.

As funding shrinks and humanitarian interest wanes, affected individuals, families, and communities are being left without access to lifesaving healthcare and options for transitional justice.

ASP is proud to continue our work on addressing and preventing conflict-related s*xual violence against men and boys. We will continue to work for the recognition of gendered harms for male victims/survivors of CRSV, continue to ensure and approaches throughout all of our work.

All Survivors Project is honoured to work as an implementing partner of the United Nations Office for Children and Armed Conflict. We are delighted to have our work recognised in paragraphs 36 and 87 of the Report of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict to the Human Rights Council. This is especially significant in relation to our work on , where:

“In 2025, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace accredited men as victims, of acts of s*xual violence, torture and forced displacement, who were children at the time of the events. Those victims were supported by the All Survivors Project as an implementing partner of the Office of the Special Representative.”

We are appalled at the rising number of against children documented in the current report to the .

The report points out:

"R**e and other forms of s*xual violence increased by 35 per cent compared to 2023, with cases of gang r**e rising dramatically, underlining the systematic use of s*xual violence as a deliberate tactic of warfare to enhance territorial control, displace populations and target the ethnicity or gender of children, among other aims. Girls were disproportionately affected by s*xual violence. The persistent underreporting of that violation, due to stigma, the risk of retaliation, harmful social norms, the absence of or lack of access to services, impunity and safety concerns in a context where legal protections remain unimplemented and inaccessible, underscores the urgent need for age and gender-sensitive responses and strengthened accountability mechanisms."

ASP’s work shows that boys remain at risk of experiencing *xualviolence in conflicts around the world. We believe that it is crucial to centre their agency in our work on improving access to care and support.

Make sure to read the thematic report on CRSV in Sri Lanka from the UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights.

We are particularly encouraged by the section in paragraphs 42-45 outlining s*xual violence against male victims/survivors. Recognising that CRSV affects all people is key to ensuring that age- and gender-appropriate care, including access to justice, is delivered for all victims/survivors. The UN’s Sri Lanka Accountability Project (OSLAP - https://www.ohchr.org/en/hr-bodies/hrc/sri-lanka-accountability/index) offers a real chance at collecting and preserving evidence for well-documented international crimes, and ensuring justice to victims/survivors.

Curious about how to better support male victims/survivors of CRSV?

All Survivors Project and HIAS Colombia, alongside Swiss Development & Cooperation (SDC) and Embajada de Suiza en Colombia, recently hosted a workshop ‘Building a more inclusive response to the needs of male survivors of s*xual violence in Colombia’ in Bogotá' with health and humanitarian organisations, researchers, and practitioners to discuss this.
