Good Night Out Campaign

An international campaign working with licensed premises to deal with tackle and prevent the harassment of women and LGBT+ people on nights out.

Good Night Out Campaign is an independent international initiative dedicated to raising awareness of sexual harassment and helping the nighttime economy address, deal with, tackle and prevent this issue through a poster campaign and specialist training. Launched in April 2014 and endorsed by Drinkaware, End Violence Against Women Coalition, Hollaback London, National Union of Students and Everyday Sexism, Good Night Out is a totally independent team of organisers and trainers passionate about making nights out safer for all, and active worldwide. We work in partnership with councils, licensing teams, women’s groups and charities across the country to deliver training, consultation and support. We developed and delivered training for Southwark Council’s landmark Women’s Safety Charter, alcohol awareness charity Drinkaware, and Kingston Upon Thames Council in partnership with the Met Police. Our work has been featured on BBC, The Guardian, Evening Standard, NME, Dazed Magazine and many more.

🟠 Our Active Bystander Guide details how to respond effectively to harmful behaviour and provide support to someone experiencing any type of harassment or assault.

🟠 Our our collaborative harm reduction and drug education guide Safer States aims to challenge stigma and support UK nightlife to get real about safer drug use.

🟠 Our Organising Safer Events toolkit in collaboration with Resident Advisor provides a great starting point for student union bars and other spaces seeking practical advice on how to support and improve the experience of attendees.

In case you missed it, we recently launched our P*e In Peace campaign! 🚾✌️🏳️‍⚧️

The EHRC updated code of practice has caused a lot of confusion around bathroom access in nightlife venues, but our posters are a simple reminder to everyone who pops to the loo that they have the right to P*e in Peace!

Available free of charge to any UK venue or cultural space wanting to show that they stand with ALL their customers ✊ request your poster pack at the link in bio, display them with pride and tag us in your photos of them in your space! 🧡

As a team based between London and Berlin this weekend we felt the joyful strength of collective resistance at Trans+ Pride in London, and sickening horror at the attack on CSD Berlin.

We burn with ongoing rage at the hypocrisy of leaders who are so eager to deploy the rhetoric of condemnation of one form of hate only to embolden another, so comfortable using extrajudicial killing, and so satisfied for police to enact their own routine of state-sanctioned q***rbashing at Berlin’s Internationalist Q***r Pride across town.

Our hearts are with the victim, all those injured and their loved ones, the q***r community united in grief, the Muslim community facing yet more hatred and targeting, and all impacted by this tragedy.

Our care, our clarity and preciseness in both language and action is our best weapon in these dark times.
