I have a vision of a community hub that works as a unique social enterprise, giving pleasure and enjoyment, learning and enrichment to both customers, students, volunteers and all those who become members. ‘Street System Soundz’ will pride itself on being at the front line of London’s unique music and events culture.
‘Street System Soundz will have many layers though primarily it will operate, m
arket and conduct itself as an innovative and alternative events company. We will provide those that are socially excluded through homelessness, and other complex needs opportunities to gain skills and experience in the events business through active participation and involvement. The business will centre around bi-monthly events and included two extra community events each year. There will be opportunities to be involved at every stage of planning. Members will be able to work and train in the cafe whilst learning all aspects related to building sound systems, lighting, and backdrops. We will be looking for people who aspire to play in bands, become DJ’s, explore Sound Engineering, and film making. An environment where people can work on ideas, dreams, and visions will be created and folks who get involved will be able to shape the business going forward. I believe this learning will be invaluable in securing employment and training for the future, although we would hope that Street System Soundz becomes an integral part of each persons journey, where they are able to stay with us if they choose or leave a positive legacy if they move on. Our community hub will operate as a shop and cafe selling vinyl alongside refreshments in the cafe . Usable PC’s, decks and other equipment will be available and there is an opportunity to sell bespoke items related to the industry which will also beencourage creativity. During periods that our equipment is not being used we would be able to hire to other promoters and groups bringing in more revenue to grow our training model.
