Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD) Facilitating business & collaborations between women art dealers, gallerists and consultants

The Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD) facilitates business and collaborations between art dealers, gallerists and art consultants. Our vision is to be the premier international network for women art dealers. We provide a platform for meeting fellow collaboratively-minded art dealers, gallerists and consultants. Based in London and NYC, AWAD meets on a monthly basis at both locations and also

welcomes membership applications from art dealers, art advisors and gallerists based worldwide. Members work together in many ways, including art deals, gallery and pop-up exhibitions, art fairs, sharing of shipping costs to art fairs – and the list goes on. The organisation also offers masterclasses, networking events and online platforms. We believe that by working together as a whole, we benefit on an individual basis, by enjoying increasingly successful art businesses.

We loved attending the Sotheby's Institute of Art careers fair last Thursday and meeting students from SIA and the University of Manchester, including many aspiring women art dealers! We enjoyed the fair's talks programme, especially a discussion with journalist Georgina Adam who we will also be hosting for an online talk on 9 June about Gen Z and Millennial collector trends (link in bio!). Big thanks to Sotheby's Institute of Art for inviting us.

Young collectors are increasingly dominating the art market, and are poised to do so even more as the Great Wealth Transfer proceeds in the coming years. According to the 2025 Art Basel & UBS Global Collecting survey, nearly three-quarters of respondents were Gen Z or Millennial, as these generations, now in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, become the most active buyers across international markets.

But what does an art dealer need to know about what how these young collectors are approaching their acquisitions? Join journalist, author and art market expert Georgina Adam, who has just published the book on this very subject, in an online conversation with Susan J Mumford, founder of the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD) on Tuesday 9 June to find out more.

As a not-for-profit organisation, AWAD is pleased to open this discussion to the general public by donation. Register here: https://bit.ly/AWADJune2026

Red Hill Art Gallery in Brisbane is proud to present Pause, a new solo exhibition by acclaimed Australian artist Katherine Wood, opening Friday 22 May from 6–8pm as part of the gallery’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

In a world increasingly defined by constant movement and distraction, Pause invites viewers into a quieter, more reflective space — one of stillness, balance, and presence. Through atmospheric landscapes, subtle shifts of light, and deeply intuitive compositions, Katherine Wood explores the emotional and spiritual spaces that exist between action and intention.

Known for her expressive and meditative works, Wood has exhibited with Red Hill Gallery for many years, building a long standing relationship with the gallery well before she officially made Australia her home. Originally from South Africa and now exhibiting internationally, her work continues to resonate with collectors for its emotional depth, serenity, and contemplative energy.

Gallery Director and AWAD Member Margaret Campbell-Ryder said the exhibition is especially meaningful within the gallery’s milestone anniversary year.

“Over the years, Katherine’s work has offered audiences a sense of calm, reflection, and emotional connection. Pause feels particularly relevant today — it encourages us to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves through art.”
