Multidisciplinary arts company committed to making arts accessible by creating safe spaces for communities to experience the freedom of self-expression

'Writerz n Scribez’ is a project that aims to create an arena to develop the ability for free expression. It aims to promote lyricism to the masses allowing young people to carry the torch of creativity. The daily environment of young people is not just an exciting world of multicultural hybridism, global trends and new experiences, but also a realm of contradiction, conflicts and struggles for space and identity. The project involves weekly two hour workshops for six weeks. Young people will experience creative writing workshops run by differing artists (rappers, performance poets, spoken word artists, scriptwriters and songwriters) to increase their awareness, knowledge and enjoyment of writing. These workshops will also improve confidence and stage presence while enhancing performance skills.

We have been on a journey of creating space for processing grief and loss over the last few years through collective witness, creative prompts and poetry.

On Monday we are holding a special one-off workshop to allow for processing of collective grief after the devastating loss of Professor Jason Arday in Battersea last week.

Please be aware given the sensitivity of this session it is strictly for Black/Global Majority participants.

Battersea Arts Centre will be holding an open community workshop on the same day from 5:30pm - look out for more information on their socials.

Workshop is free. No need to register.
