DOUBLE YOUR DONATION for ONE WEEK ONLY!! We’re taking part in Big Give Arts For Impact campaign and we’ve got £11,000 of match funding to unlock WITH YOUR HELP!!

Whatever you donate between 18 and 25 March will be matched by Big Give and our generous friends Lolly Adefope, Nish Kumar and Joe Lycett. That means when you give £20 we get £40!

If you want to do something incredibly simple to support our work, this is the perfect opportunity! We’ve only got a week to secure this funding so please give what can and spread the word. With access for working class and global majority creatives being eroded everywhere, it’s absolutely vital we keep on keeping on. Holding the doors open for working class and minoritised young people is increasingly down to people powered movements like this one.

This year we have 308 amazing and creative mentees on our programme exploring everything from gaming to crafts - the most popular industries this year being architecture, off-screen film & TV, fashion, visual arts & music. 100% of last year’s mentees said the programme gave them access to opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have had, and we’re planning on matching that this year. We’re already hearing exciting things in our first batches of mentor reports!

All the funding secured will cover essential core costs for this unrivalled programme of long-term empowerment, which includes 1:1 mentoring, exclusive opportunities, resources and travel bursaries, network connections, and of course advice and pastoral care from our brilliant mentoring and community officers, who provide 1-2-1 support for every single young person and volunteer who joins our programme!

📣📣Arts Emergency is coming to West Yorkshire IF (and only if) you can help us raise £25,000! 📣📣

This winter we’re asking our amazing community to raise 27% of the total start-up funding we need to launch our planned West Yorkshire mentoring programme in 2025. We are asking those that can afford it, to join our Bursar Club with a donation of £1000 or £83.33 a month to fund a young person’s place on the programme. Are you one of the first 25 generous souls we need to launch in Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield?

Head to arts-emergency.org/west-yorkshire to donate now.

❓❓Why West Yorkshire ❓❓

In addition to being a highly creative region with serious cultural heritage and big ambitions for its young people, West Yorkshire also hits all our criteria for determining high levels of need. Nearly a third of West Yorkshire residents live in the poorest neighbourhoods, compared to 20% nationally. Bradford is one of the most income deprived local authorities in England, and Kirklees is a Arts Council England Priority Place. There are also over 100 schools with 30% or more students accessing Free School Meals, plus higher than average numbers of young people not in education, employment or training.

According to research undertaken last year by the National Youth Theatre and Netflix, young people in West Yorkshire feel there is a “class ceiling” and “a lack of support and guidance” preventing them from building successful careers in the creative industries. 83% believe that not having industry contacts would hold them back. Almost half (46%) believe that they need to live in London to forge a career in the industry.

We WILL do something about this. We CAN make a difference here.

❓❓What do we need ❓❓

We need to raise an initial £94,000 to support a launch year in 2025. We’re asking you, our Network, and our closest supporters, to do what you can. The £25,000 raised in this appeal will be an amazing boost, and help unlock other income avenues such as grants.

❤️ Every single donation, every single new Bursar, will get us one step closer to introducing a brand new cohort of West Yorkshire mentees to their hand matched mentors in January 2026. ❤️

Head to arts-emergency.org/west-yorkshire to donate now. Thank you!
