Say hello to Gordon McDade. For over ten years, Gordon has shared his expertise and passion with our School Debates Programme and more recently as a Community Champion.

Gordon shared why he volunteers, "I want my time and skills to contribute to something bigger than myself, helping communities facing extreme poverty, displacement and crisis."

🌟 Meet our Fermanagh Group🌟

This amazing group has been fundraising for Concern since 1989 and have raised an absolutely incredible £630,000!

Last year alone they raised over £29k, and the Beechvale Walk event they support has raised an additional £39K since it started in 2013.

Our NI Director, Jackie Trainor, paid tribute to the incredible efforts of our volunteers:

“For more than 40 years now, the people of Fermanagh have rallied to our cause, time and time again. Every single donation and hour volunteered has made a lasting difference to families facing hunger, conflict and climate crises around the world. We are so very grateful to everyone who has helped make this happen – we simply could not do it without you.”

Close to 300 million people face extreme levels of hunger. Yet world leaders are stepping back from their responsibility in the face of catastrophic humanitarian crises.

Escalating needs have to be met with fewer resources, and brutal decisions are being made regarding which programmes continue to be funded. Meaning fewer treatments are available for children suffering from acute undernutrition. Every single child reaching a state of undernourishment represents a political and moral failure by global leaders.

This , we urge governments to recommit to global humanitarian cooperation by restoring lifesaving assistance, prioritising food security and nutrition, and placing local communities at the centre of decision making.

While close to 300 million people face extreme levels of hunger, world leaders are choosing to dangerously step back from their responsibility in the face of catastrophic humanitarian crises, hunger, and malnutrition.

As of 24 May, the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has led to 129 deaths, 101 confirmed cases and 904 suspected cases.

Local health facilities continue to face significant challenges due to limited resources and the absence of an approved treatment or vaccine for this particular strain.

Concern is responding to help protect communities and prevent the current outbreak of Ebola in the DRC from spreading.

However, cuts in international aid have heavily impacted the region, and while humanitarian donors are mobilising to support the emergency response, the needs are huge and require massive and prolonged support ⤵️

Concern is responding to the developing outbreak of Ebola, after more than 900 cases were suspected in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda.

The outbreak is now a public health emergency of international concern, according to the World Health Organisation. Acting early is critical. The faster we can put prevention measures in place, the more lives we can protect.

Concern is responding by supporting communities and health centres with handwashing stations, sanitation supplies, emergency toilets, showers and waste disposal pits to help protect people in high-risk areas. Donate today: https://bit.ly/3PoOjG3
