📸 It’s not every day Tom Cruise wants a photo with one of our fanfare teams… but who can blame him? 😉🎺

The Band of the Irish Guards’ Fanfare Team performed the National Anthem for the arrival of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales at the Royal Film Premiere of ‘Digger’, at the Odeon Leicester Square.

A royal occasion with a touch of Hollywood! 🎬💂

This week the Band’s Fanfare Team performed the national anthem at the Leicester Square Odeon for the arrival of Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales’ to the Royal Film Premier of Tom Cruise’s new film ‘Digger’.

🎶 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 🎶

Meet another of this year’s finalists: Musician Rebecca Coleman of the Band of the Grenadier Guards.

Rebecca began playing the flute at the age of seven, later becoming Principal Flautist of the Nottingham Youth Orchestra and a piccolo player with the National Youth Wind Orchestra. She studied at the Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire before completing her Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Alongside performing, Rebecca developed a passion for composition and arranging, producing an album of her own original works for her final project.

Rebecca joined the British Army in September 2024 and the Band of the Grenadier Guards in September 2025 as a flute and piccolo player. She recently took part in her first King’s Birthday Parade.

Away from music, Rebecca is also a photographer for the Army Motorsport Team and has been selected to cover events within a professional motorsport championship.

For the final, Musician Coleman will perform:

🎻 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 FINALIST

Representing The Duchess of Edinburgh’s String Orchestra, cellist Musician Oliver Clark has been performing for 19 years.

Oliver began studying the cello with John Mustard in Forres, Moray, before continuing his musical education at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh. He later completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music and a Master of Arts degree at the Royal Academy of Music, where he received an EMI funding award.

A former Junior Fellow and teacher at the Royal Academy of Music’s Junior Department, Oliver has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Opera House. He has also appeared as Guest Principal Cello with the Algarve Symphony Orchestra and the Arabian Philharmonic, performing internationally in Portugal and Saudi Arabia.

His chamber music career has taken him across Portugal and to prestigious UK venues including Wigmore Hall and the Barbican Centre. His recording credits include projects for Amazon Prime, Netflix and Howard Audio in Johannesburg.

For the final, Musician Clark will perform the first movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

🎶 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 FINALIST 🎶

Meet Musician Morgan Taylor of the Band of the Irish Guards, one of this year’s talented finalists!

Morgan began learning the trombone at the age of 10, performing with the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, Hampshire County Youth Brass Band and Hamble Area Youth Band. He later studied at the Royal College of Music under Lindsay Shilling and Matthew Knight, where his highlights included playing principal trombone with the RCM Symphony Orchestra and rehearsing with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Marin Alsop.

Since joining the Band of the Irish Guards in September 2024, Morgan has performed at the Doha and Basel Tattoos, appeared in the annual Scarlet and Gold concert and recorded Not Forgotten with Matt Goss. He also won the Irish Guards Band Solo Competition in 2025.

For the final, Morgan will perform movements 1 and 3 of Launy Grøndahl’s Trombone Concerto.

🎺 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 FINALIST

Representing the Band of the Welsh Guards, we are delighted to introduce Musician Booker, one of this year’s finalists.

An accomplished trumpet player, Musn Booker studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the RCAM Bursary. Before joining RCAM in September 2024, he served with the Band of The Royal Welsh in the Army Reserve, performing across Europe at events including Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Italy and the Düsseldorf and ’s-Hertogenbosch Tattoos.

For the final, Musn Booker will perform Carmen Fantasie by Herman Bellstedt, arranged by Gareth Trott.

🎶 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 🎶

Musician Cowling, Principal Oboist of the Band of the Scots Guards, is one of this year’s finalists!

Originally from Bolton, she began learning the oboe at the age of nine before attending the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. She later studied Music at Durham University, graduating with First-Class Honours, and joined British Army Music in May 2025.

Musician Cowling will perform Alessandro Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D minor.
