Schools are increasingly supporting children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs — often within mainstream classrooms and alongside growing pressures around attendance, SEND and engagement.
At the same time, national reforms are placing greater emphasis on:
• inclusive mainstream education
• early intervention
• emotionally informed practice
• SEND and SEMH support
• school-based mental health provision
How do we support teachers to respond?
Applications are now open for the September 2026 cohort of Caspari Foundation’s Certificate in Therapeutic Teaching — a specialist part-time online programme for teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and mental health practitioners wanting to deepen therapeutic, attachment-informed and trauma-aware practice within schools.
The programme supports practitioners to:
✓ better understand behaviour as communication
✓ develop reflective and emotionally informed approaches
✓ strengthen SEMH and inclusion practice
✓ support children experiencing emotional barriers to learning
The Certificate also forms the first year of our Advanced Diploma in Educational Psychotherapy.
One former student reflected:
“I think every teacher could benefit... If I had had some training on therapeutic approaches when I first trained to be a teacher, I think the first few years of my career would have been so different.”
Applications close Friday 3rd July.
