SwapAholicsUK

SwapAholicsUK aims to make waste prevention accessible to everyone but, especially to the (j)ust (a)bout (m)anaging person. We value the importance of protecting our environment that we live and play in. To achieve this mission, we hope to advance a more sustainable future by offering accessible events that encourages the reuse, recycle notion of a better world for our future generations “why shop, when you can swap”.

We host eco-friendly swapping events on the 3rd Saturday of every month at Somers Town Community Association, 150 Ossulston Street, NW1 1EE. From 3-6pm. When funding permits we also host clothes mender (for free). People can swap clothing, shoes & accessories with one another. We do not impose a limit on what people bring or take as we want to encourage reuse. Everyone is an ambassador and therefore we say to people that if they spot items that their friends, loved ones, colleagues, housemates, neighbours would like, to take the items for them and use it as a way to introduce them to swap. For us it is about minimising waste rather than capitalising on the garments. The problem with fast fashion is only getting bigger, not smaller.

In a world demanding you to spend, spend, spend! We are making a change and our events promise to reuse, recycle, and up-cycle clothing that would otherwise end up in the bin. At our events we offer access for £5 (standard), £3 for under 18’s or FREE for under 16’s. We also offer FREE access for anyone in need of clothing where they just have to ask for free access and they can take as many items as they wish (They do not need to bring items to swap).
