Well what a way to celebrate play in healthcare week 🏆✨ A huge congratulations to our very own Matron, Alison, on winning the Protector of Play Award! ✨🏆

Alison was nominated by our fantastic team member Katie, after she turned Katie’s suggestion for training in trauma-informed procedural care into mandatory training for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals. 👏💙

Alison is a true advocate for play and understands so well what our Play Team are striving to achieve every single day — making our service better and ensuring that children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.

Thank you, Alison, for championing play and helping us make a real difference to the experiences of the children, young people and families we care for. We are incredibly proud of you! 🌟

Messy play is so much more than making a mess! 🖐️🎨

It gives children the freedom to explore, experiment and discover through their senses. From squishing, splashing and pouring to mixing, scooping and creating, every experience helps build important skills.

Today, one of our Play Team Leads visited Starlight Head Office to help share the vital role of Play Specialists and the importance of embedding play throughout a child’s healthcare journey.

From empowering children to supporting parents and carers to advocate for their child, play makes a real difference. 🧸

We’re proud to see Starlight driving change through the play Well Toolkit, government lobbying and Playful Approaches training
