The SOCOD CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN/SOCOD HOLIDAY TECH BOOTCAMP
"Changing mindsets, fostering a generation of responsible and community-oriented youth"

In line with the ongoing Holiday Tech Bootcamp co-organised by SODEI and CODAM Technologies in partnership with UNDP, participants took part in a clean-up campaign at the Limbe City Council.

This event transcends a mere clean-up – it's a symbolic gesture that echoes our commitment to transform our community and mindset of our youth.
Every act reverberates far beyond the surface, as we collectively sow the seeds for a cleaner, greener, and prouder Limbe.

To build a stronger, resilient and prosperous nation, we must all take part in this shared narrative of change and prepare a new generation of responsive and responsible leaders.

Activities for our holiday TECH BOOTCAMP organised in partnership with CODAM and UNDP, have intensified at our TECH Hub in Limbe Cameroon. Workshop sessions have been unfolding with a focus on Robotics as well as Entrepreneurship.
Working with the objective to build a robot, trainers demonstrated robotic instruments such as the digital multimeter, transistor, integrated circuit, clippers, wires, jumper, crocodile clip, resistors and more. Trainees were later given group tasks that enabled them to identify such robotics components. Participants as young as they are also being introduced to Entrepreneurship, accompanied with group participation in which they come out with project ideas and budgets. We are presently looking forward to a clean-up campaign and more practicals.

SOCOD Holiday Tech BOOTCAMP: Week #1 Update!

The Holiday TECH BOOTCAMP organized by SODEI and CODAM Technologies in partnership with UNDP, the Limbe City Council, ANTIC and others, is ongoing at SODEI Tech Hub in Limbe. So far, trainees have been undergoing training on basic electronics - introducing them to the circuit components including battery, wires and board. The sessions taught them how to mount a basic circuit comprising of a battery, board wires and LED bulb.

Other topics covered in the first week of training included an introduction to programming - initiating learners to programming terminologies such as variables, Constance and operators. These also ushered trainees into problem-solving through critical thinking giving the possibility of applying both logical and rational reasoning to their actions. Let us watch out for another Tech filled week as the BOOTCAMP continues

SOCOD HOLIDAY TECH BOOTCAMP 2023
“Igniting Youth Entrepreneurial Creativity and Innovation”.

SODEI in partnership with CODAM Technologies launched a HOLIDAY TECH BOOTCAMP on Wednesday July 12 at the LIMBE City Council hall. The program scheduled to last for one month from July 12 to August 11 aims at empowering children aged 9 to 21 with a foundational Information Technology skillset, innovation and creativity that could become essential to them in future.

The launching event saw the attendance of over 115 young people, representatives of the LIMBE City Council, other partner institutions, parents and well-wishers who expressed their admiration for the initiative. The month-long training program enjoys the support of UNDP Cameroon, LIMBE City Council, the Divisional Delegation for Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the National Agency for Information and Communication (ANTIC) amongst other collaborators.

The SOCOD Special Holidays Bootcamp program provides a platform for impactful holiday activities where young people can learn, recreate, play, relax and enjoy with their peers in a useful manner and protective environment, avoiding delinquencies. The over 100 beneficiaries will be organised into three separate groups and assigned suitable activities on coding and robotics, safety online, how to generate ideas and more, leading up to an open-door day where they will present their savoir-faire.

We want to express our gratitude to all partners, volunteers, parents and supporters for the confidence in us. We believe the Bootcamp is a unique opportunity to introduce young brilliant minds into the ever-growing, intricate world of information technology, to be better prepared for the challenges and opportunities it presents.

Learn, Speak and Play (LESPLAY) is a SODEI project that supports children in Limbe, in the southwest region of Cameroon, to develop their full potentials and discover their talents and abilities. We provide FREE training in computers and digital equipment, life skills, and creative arts, along with a space for play and peer interaction. Supporting this project provides art, computer, and life skills training to children in need.
