Avenues is a community where people smile, laugh and grow – and achieve great things.

We support autistic people, people with learning disability, acquired brain injury and complex needs to live life to the fullest. We support people in a residential setting or in their own homes who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues, physical disabilities and acquired brain injury. We also provide a range of other services, helping disabled people to be more active and independent and to connect with their local communities.

🏆 Award Spotlight: Business Impact Award - Turning commitment into action

We’re proud that Avenues has been shortlisted for the Business Impact Award at the Unseen Business Awards 2026.

Over the past two years, we’ve been working to strengthen how we identify, manage and prevent the risks of modern slavery across our organisation.

From an independent gap analysis and three-year improvement programme to stronger governance, training and our SPARK framework – Spot, Protect, Assess, Resolve and Keep Improving – our aim has been to turn commitment into meaningful, everyday action.

Every worker deserves to be seen, respected and protected.

This Anti-Slavery Week, the theme is – highlighting the importance of recognising the signs of labour exploitation and protecting people wherever and however they work.

At Avenues, tackling modern slavery isn't simply about meeting our legal obligations. It's about building awareness, strengthening our processes and making sure protecting workers from exploitation becomes everyone's responsibility. It is this work that has seen us shortlisted at the 2026 Unseen Business Awards.

The theme this World Mental Health Day is lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.

Avenues understands the importance of listening to people with lived experience and, more importantly, making sure their voices lead to meaningful change.

So, today, we're introducing and celebrating our Quality Checkers! 🌟

Our Quality Checkers are people we support, who are employed by Avenues to visit our services, share their experiences, and identify what's working well and what could be improved.

Because who better to help shape the support we provide than the people who experience it first-hand?

By giving people a genuine voice in how our services develop, we're helping to build a culture where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to make a difference.

🌊 A Seaside Smile Moment!

Everyone had the opportunity to spend the day doing the things they enjoy most. Mark wasted no time getting into the sea, while Joyce headed for one of her favourites – the 2p machines – and even came away with a few prizes! 🎉

Monim and Mark enjoyed a game of crazy golf, while Josh and Sandra spent some time browsing the shops.

Of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without fish and chips and an ice cream, which everyone enjoyed together! 🍦

What a fantastic day out in Hastings for the people we support!

☀️ Brighton smiles and seaside memories!

We’re delighted to share another lovely Smile Moment, this time from Susannah, Aaron and Koby’s fantastic day out!

The group made the most of their seaside adventure with a walk along the beach, some delicious food and live music – all accompanied by plenty of smiles and good vibes! 🎶😊

It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the day together - a brilliant Brighton day from start to finish! 🌊✨

🎪 Smile Moment: A brilliant day at the circus!

David and Ellen recently joined two of their housemates for a fantastic trip to the circus in Ramsgate.

David loved watching all the different acts, from the magic and clowns to the motorbikes and aerial performers. He was smiling throughout and clapping along.

There was another first for David too – trying candy floss! He followed it up with an ice cream and chocolate flake, making a great day even sweeter. 🍦

Ellen also had a wonderful time taking in the performances and particularly enjoyed watching the aerial dancers.

A big thank you to Gemma, the Service Manager, and the rest of the support team for helping to make such a fun day out possible. 💜

You’ll lead, inspire and develop a team of an Assistant Service Manager and Support Workers, championing independence, inclusion and high-quality support every day.
