The BSSH is delighted to maintain its collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) in supporting the role of Surgical Specialty Lead (SSL) for hand surgery.

We invite applications from orthopaedic and plastic surgeons for this important position.

The SSL for Hand Surgery plays a key role in advancing high-quality clinical research by developing and leading multicentre trials that directly improve patient care. Acting as a vital link between surgical communities, research networks, and trials centres, the postholder ensures studies are relevant, efficiently delivered, and broadly collaborative. The role also contributes to building research capacity through mentorship, training, and the establishment of strong national clinical networks.
