WOW - Women of the World

WOW - Women of the World WOW - Women of the World is a global alliance of partners, driving an equal and inclusive future for women, girls and non-binary people.

Our impact is delivered through festivals, events, leadership programmes and knowledge sharing. WOW – Women of the World festival is a global movement launched by Jude Kelly CBE at Southbank Centre London in 2010, celebrating women, girls and non-binary people looking at the obstacles that stop them from achieving their potential. To date, WOW has reached over two million people worldwide. The WOW

Foundation produces WOW festivals across the world to celebrate women, girls and non-binary people, take a frank look at what prevents them from achieving their potential, and raise awareness globally of the issues they face and possible solutions. It is the biggest, most comprehensive and most significant festival dedicated to promoting gender equality. WOW Festivals are presented by arrangement with Southbank Centre.

Meet the five incredible curators from across South Asia who are bringing their programmes and ideas onto WOW 365.

Expect conversations and artist-led experiences on everything from activism to masculinity, explorations into the past and and easing anxiety about the future – and so much more.

WOW festivals and events have been taking place in South Asia for a decade (WOW Pakistan actually celebrated their 10 year anniversary this year). Now WOW 365 members all over the world can deep dive into ideas and learn from the women and girls in the region – and experience a taste of what WOWs in Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan feel like.

This programme has been made possible with the support of the British Council.

The day before the MenCare Changemaker Summit, hear from Jude Kelly and Equimundo's Gary Barker on what this moment demands of us.

The MenCare campaign is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: that care is fundamental to all human beings.

The Summit – and the Boys and Men Festival – creates space for ideas, dialogue, inspiration and challenge. But more than that, it creates agency and a sense that change is possible and urgent.

As our Changemakers gather in Rio from all over the world, the call is to come ready not only to listen, but to act. To bring influence from across corporations, governments, foundations and civil society into shared space.

Because we can no longer stay in separate conversations. We need meaningful dialogue across sectors, perspectives and genders. We are all in this together.

The S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys in Maré workshops took place in the aftermath of the deadliest police operation in Rio’s history – events that directly affected many of the young people involved.

In a world where Black boys are so often represented through violence and dehumanisation, Kay Rufai’s project creates space for something else: humanity, tenderness, reflection and joy.

Watch Ray, 18, speak about the impact the project had on him and his community ahead of the premiere of S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys in Maré at the WOW Boys and Men Festival Rio 🇧🇷
