On factory farms, animals are confined to wire cages and gestation crates or packed by the thousands into dark, filthy sheds. Animals reared in these intensive farming systems are unable to raise their families, root around in the soil, build nests, or do anything that is natural to them. Most will not see the sun or breathe fresh air until the day they are transported to a slaughterhouse to be ki

lled. The world also now faces the fresh crisis of global warming, climate change and the spectre of being unable to feed the ever growing human population. The seas are being depleted of life, the land is being poisoned with herbicides and insecticides and the forests, once the lungs of the earth and sanctuary for countless species of animals and plants, are being destroyed. The JVS is determined to promote vegetarian lifestyles by providing advice, support and information to help people with the transition to a non-animal diet.

Whether you’re a regular member of the community or new to JVS, we’d love to see you. A chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones. Feel free to bring vegan snacks, drinks, or a picnic blanket. Since this is a vegan event, we kindly ask that if you do bring food, that it is vegan friendly. We’ll also have some optional games and feel free to bring any.

Excited for our upcoming community gardening club this Sunday!

This session we'll be planting out more vegetables and flowers, giving the beds a little TLC with some weeding and watering, and if time, some summer seed sowing - whilst enjoying a relaxed morning of gardening together.

Whether you're a regular or it's your first visit, everyone is welcome (ages 7+), no experience needed.
