Today, on World Health Day, we stand in solidarity to affirm that is a fundamental human right, not a luxury.

Ongoing conflicts across the globe, notably in and , have profoundly impacted the right to health. We call attention to the dire health situations in conflict zones. It is critical to ensure safe, unimpeded humanitarian access and to safeguard the health rights of those trapped in conflict situations.

Additionally, the escalating climate crisis presents significant threats to our collective health, disproportionately affecting Indigenous Peoples and communities at the forefront of environmental degradation. The impact of climate change is stark, with an expected increase of approximately 250,000 deaths annually between 2030 and 2050 due to malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress. We advocate for the equitable and rapid phase-out of fossil fuels and the protection of environmental defenders. These are crucial measures to protect our right to a healthy environment.

Our economies must integrate and prioritize human rights principles, guiding us towards a sustainable and healthy future for all.
