We are delighted to share Lopamudra's Story: From Creating Beautiful Spaces to Creating Happier Worlds

Lopamudra works at our Men's Shed group, where she supports our participants with creative and sustainable DIY projects.

She focuses on upcycling; turning unwanted items and surplus materials into beautiful and useful accessories and furniture. We love working with Lopamudra to help people learn and share valuable skills at the Men’s Shed.

Lopamudra (pictured with the Lord Mayor at our Sustainability Exhibition, and working in the Men's Shed) told us more about the journey that led her to us, and what this work means to her.

Last week we held our second South Westminster Action Network (SWAN) Fair at the Rampayne Street Community Hub in Pimlico.

This week also marked the launch of our SWAN Community Book, titled “Hidden Gems”. Along with the Fair, this aims to highlight the wide range of free and low-cost services which are here to support you in south Westminster.

SWAN brings together local organisations to meet and share information, and this event was an excellent opportunity to connect with the community. We were also delighted to meet our MP Rachel Blake at the Community Hub, and give her a copy of our new book (pictured).

Last week we hosted another “energetic and lively” Tea Party!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the new Lord Mayor of Westminster, Karen Scarborough to the event. We were also joined by a team of “amazing” volunteers from , who also kindly donated funds to make this party possible.

We received some wonderful feedback about this event, as one guest told us: “Loved it all! The volunteers are always so friendly and helpful, it is like a high tea being served and we don’t have to do anything! The choice is so varied for all tastes, no one is left out.”

Another happy attendee added, “I never stopped dancing or laughing”!

We and our guests want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a success.

Pat volunteers at our Community Pantry as a Personal Shopper – something she says she's long wanted to do after she retired.

She assists our service users or "shoppers" in picking food and hygiene products from the Pantry, and helps to ensure everyone gets the items they need. Pat is a joy to have around, as she always greets our team with a smile, and loves to make people laugh with any wonky fruit and veg she finds at the Pantry.

It’s great to see our Men’s Shed group again after their summer break.

They got straight back to learning valuable sewing skills with our tutor Manisha. Sewing has proven surprisingly popular with the group, and many of them are now confident enough to start repairing their old clothes, and creating new, practical and beautiful accessories.

Local men are encouraged to come along and learn and share their skills, or just join us for a cup of tea.

We meet on Fridays from 12pm to 1pm at The Abbey Centre
