We are pleased to announce our official affiliation with the Worshipful Company of Cooks, formalised on 9 April 2026.

Our Commanding Officer, Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Ragul Madan RNR, had the privilege of attending the signing ceremony on behalf of Southwark Sea Cadets, accompanied by our UMT and volunteers. The occasion was witnessed by our esteemed cadets, who upheld the highest standards by providing a carpet guard for the event.

As a unit, we are grateful for this affiliation and would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Master, Mr John Bennett, and the Company for their support and The guest of honour Vice Admiral Andrew Kyte.

A special thank you to the Second Master, Mr Michael Richardson, who has been instrumental in driving this affiliation forward and has offered invaluable support and advice throughout.

We look forward to building a strong and lasting relationship together.

Very sad to hear of the passing of SLt (SCC) Christine Weston RNR.

She was an incredibly kind and supportive person who always made time for others and offered encouragement when it was needed most.

She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew her.

It is with great sadness that London Northern District Sea Cadets announces the passing of SLt (SCC) Christine Weston RNR.

Christine has been a key and valued member of the District Staff for many years, as well as a dedicated member of Clapton & Hackney Unit, where she served as Officer in Charge until ill health forced her to step back. Her commitment, kindness, and professionalism have left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with her.

She supported and inspired both staff and cadets alike and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Christine was often the reassuring presence on courses, camps, and parades, and at meetings, always offering guidance, care, laughs, and encouragement when it was needed most.

We extend our heartfelt thanks for her years of dedication, service, and the countless young people and adults she helped along the way.

As a District, we send our sincere condolences to all her family, especially our District Officer, Lt Cdr (SCC) Mark Weston RNR.

At this difficult time, we respectfully ask that everyone honours the family’s wishes and allows them the privacy and space to grieve.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all those affected by this loss.
