In Karamoja, Uganda, around 74% of people are living in poverty: more than four times the national average. The region also has some of the lowest literacy rates in the country, with only around 3 in 10 people able to read and write.

At Five Talents, we’ve seen how literacy and savings groups can help change this. When women gain the confidence to read, write and save, they positively affect not only their lives, but those of their children and the surrounding community.

What an incredible effort!

A huge thank you to the Year 9s at Bohunt School - Liphook, who took part in the annual Micro-Tyco project and raised an amazing £529.01 for Five Talents. Every penny will go towards supporting women across rural Africa to build sustainable livelihoods.

Pictured here are Ruby and Amelia presenting the cheque - well done to everyone involved, we are so proud of you!

Our lovely colleague Megan is off on maternity leave at the end of the week, and so yesterday we celebrated her by stuffing ourselves with afternoon tea at Dean Street Townhouse.

We're wishing her the best with the first Five Talents baby, and wondering what we might do without her for a year!
