KEEN London

KEEN London FREE 1:1 supported games, sports & activities for children with additional needs & disabilities.

KEEN London believes that no child should be excluded from sports, games and activities because of their additional needs. We run safe, engaging and accessible activities for children with additional needs and disabilities. Our tailored one-to-one support helps children (we call them athletes) to be more active, more engaged, learn new skills, thrive and have fun. We have been providing free weekl

y sessions for 20 years and in that time we have grown from one session with a handful of volunteers to multiple sessions and locations and hundreds of passionate volunteers. We have seen children achieve so much since beginning their journey with KEEN London. Building confidence, self-esteem, making friends for life and creating memories that will last a lifetime. All our services are free but we rely on the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the importance of inclusive and active play, movement, and connection.

At KEEN London, we see every week how much children and young people with additional needs benefit from accessible activities, time outdoors, and opportunities to socialise in a safe and welcoming environment.

Young people with additional needs and disabilities can face a higher risk of mental health challenges, making inclusive spaces to play, build confidence, stay active, and make friendships more important than ever.

We’ve seen children who once found it difficult to open up grow in confidence through play, activity, and friendship.
Because play, friendship, and belonging can make a huge difference.

Today we celebrate every child’s right to play, grow and the freedom to be themselves - including children who sometimes need a little extra time and trust to get there.

‘Ceri loves coming to KEEN, she enjoys challenging herself with the activities and spending time with people who really understand her’.

At KEEN London volunteers aren’t just changing children’s lives, they’re supporting them their own well-being too.

It’s hard not to shift your focus from your daily worries when asking a wolf what the time is or plunging your hands into sensory slime.

Sometimes the best way to support your own well-being ia by showing up for someone else.

Thank you Roxanne for sharing your experience and to all our play experts.

On we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who show up week after week for our athletes. Not with capes, but with time, patience and the ability to lift! Be that spirit or actual flying children! Thank you for believing, because with KEEN we can!

KEEN Club Brent’s first farm adventure!

Our athletes headed off to belmontfarm today for their first trip!

Getting outside of our regular session helps our athletes build confidence, resilience and try new things in the wider community.

Today that meant hands on time with furry and feathered friends (guinea pigs, Rabbits, chickens and ducks) and we couldn’t be prouder of how gentle everyone was.

Thank you for funding our work in Brent.

This National Sibling Day, we’re celebrating the powerful role siblings play in shaping understanding, empathy and lifelong support.

For many of our volunteers, like Marcus, their journey with KEEN London starts at home. Growing up alongside a sibling with additional needs can build a deep sense of compassion and a drive to create more inclusive spaces for others.

Marcus’s story is a brilliant example of how lived experience can inspire action, turning personal connection into something that benefits a whole community.

We’re so grateful to volunteers like Marcus who bring their energy, empathy and commitment every week.

Missing our athletes over the Easter break but looking forward to being back in our happy place soon. Until then here are a few more spring party snippets.

Every week we have the pleasure of seeing children being themselves. This autism acceptance day we want to celebrate and value every child, exactly as they are.
