KEEN London

KEEN London FREE 1:1 supported games, sports & activities for children with additional needs & disabilities.

KEEN London believes that no child should be excluded from sports, games and activities because of their additional needs. We run safe, engaging and accessible activities for children with additional needs and disabilities. Our tailored one-to-one support helps children (we call them athletes) to be more active, more engaged, learn new skills, thrive and have fun. We have been providing free weekl

y sessions for 20 years and in that time we have grown from one session with a handful of volunteers to multiple sessions and locations and hundreds of passionate volunteers. We have seen children achieve so much since beginning their journey with KEEN London. Building confidence, self-esteem, making friends for life and creating memories that will last a lifetime. All our services are free but we rely on the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. To find out more about supporting our work or volunteering please visit our website or get in touch via this page.

We are deeply saddened by the death of Professor Jason Arday.

Jason was a black autistic man who became a professor at Cambridge and a prominent voice on disability, neurodiversity, race and equality.

His achievements were remarkable, particularly in the context of the barriers he faced throughout his life.
His life is also a powerful reminder of why inclusion and
representation matters.

“Different contexts, common aspirations” the theme for

We see that every Saturday. Three different KEEN Clubs, three very different groups of athletes but the same aspirations. To have fun, build confidence, be active but most importantly to come together and belong.

We asked 10 KEEN athletes one important question ahead of our London Zoo trip last month: which animal are you most excited to see?

Penguins and lions tied on votes. Lions won on volume!Happy World Lion Day from our very enthusiastic panel of judges.

Our biggest ever all-site trip: nearly 40 athletes, London Zoo

Big cats and giraffes were the favourites going in, but the real magic happened in the butterfly house and aviary, no barriers, just pure close-up wonder. We watched children who'd stayed quiet around the "big hitters" completely light up.

A parent told us afterwards: “I have never felt so trusting of a group of people before as I do with the team from KEEN London.” 💙

Huge thanks to our incredible volunteers, and to our funders and supporters who make days like this possible Cash for Kids.

Last weekend over 60 KEEN London families from across London came together under one roof (well, sky) for our annual summer party.

It was great to see so many children, volunteers and families that had never met before play, laugh and relax together.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, funders and supporters, without whom none of this happens would be possible . 🧁 🌭🎈🎵

It’s not often we get us all in one room so we had to share the moment 📸

This is not really the KEEN team because we would need all of YOU in that photo!

But, these are quite a few of the people behind the sessions and service we love.

Yesterday, some of our team attended the UNITE • ENERGISE • FLOURISH BBC Children in Need conference.

These two slides, shared by Carrie Grant, are a stark reminder of the challenges many neurodivergent children continue to face.

Too many children with SEND are missing out on education. Too many autistic children experience bullying. Behind every statistic is a child whose confidence, wellbeing and potential are affected.

At KEEN London, we’re committed to creating spaces where children are accepted as they are, celebrated for their strengths, and can build friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging through inclusive sport and play.
Thank you Carrie Grant MBE and all the speakers for an inspiring day that challenged us to keep learning and keep advocating for meaningful change.

Everyone belongs here 🏳️‍🌈

The beautiful words of one of our incredible KEEN coaches. Thank you to everyone that makes our sessions a place to belong, feel supported, respected and free to be themselves.

Happy pride from KEEN London

Sensory spinning chairs are great for regulating the nervous system and improving balance but they are also great as human fans and art tools!

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the importance of inclusive and active play, movement, and connection.

At KEEN London, we see every week how much children and young people with additional needs benefit from accessible activities, time outdoors, and opportunities to socialise in a safe and welcoming environment.

Young people with additional needs and disabilities can face a higher risk of mental health challenges, making inclusive spaces to play, build confidence, stay active, and make friendships more important than ever.

We’ve seen children who once found it difficult to open up grow in confidence through play, activity, and friendship.
Because play, friendship, and belonging can make a huge difference.
