For migrants, refugees and asylum seekers
Action for Refugees in Lewisham
They run a supplementary school for children aged 4-11 from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds on a Saturday. They offer English for Speakers of Other Languages classes for adult refugees on Mondays and Thursdays. THey offer advice on housing and welfare, No Recourse to Public Funds and Section 17,
asylum support and access to education. They also support families to find jobs and support their children, find employment, and develop personal skills. They provide emergency support on a Saturday morning through their Foodbank. They also offer a range of activities at the Foodbank such as a sewing club and English lessons. They have a special support programme for destitute families.

Baytree
The Baytree Centre is a charity working with and empowering women and girls through education and skills development programmes. They run a number of services with a focus on education, training, employment, health and social support. This includes 1-to-1 mentoring, ESOL classes, employment support, literacy support, workshops, outings and visits, and celebrations. They have an Into School project for young people waiting for school places and children’s clubs on Saturday mornings in school subjects, photography, dance and more. They have activities throughout the week and on Saturdays.

Streatham Drop-In Centre for Asylum Seekers and Refugees
They are open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They offer advice, information and signposting; English language classes; creche and play facilities; health and wellbeing support; women’s wellbeing activities; tea, coffee and refreshments. On Saturdays they have a homework club and a families learning project.

The Bike Project
Takes second-hand bikes, fix them up and donate them to refugees and asylum-seekers. Can register on website for a Bike. Also runs cycle training for refugee women in South London.

South London Refugee Association, Streatham
They have advice drop-in sessions, ESOL classes and a food bank on Mondays and Thursdays; yoga classes for women on Fridays; a women-only English conversation group; casework, a youth club, trips and activities and a drop-in session for young people; and counselling services.

Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network
They provide ESOL classes, legal advice, a food bank, weekly women’s groups, sewing and knitting, gardening and are open Monday to Friday. They don’t provide travel expenses except to some people who are destitute or using the women’s programme.

Indoamerican Refugee Migrant Organization
They are community-led and offer education, training and employment services; advice and casework; and wellbeing services. They provide English classes, homework support and creative activities for children and organise trips for families. They have a youth-led initiative to help teenagers to become more actively involved in their community and run creative writing, workshops and mentoring for young people. They provide English classes, employment support, workshops, ICT classes for adults. Mentoring and workshops for women. Support for people in low-paid jobs and immigration, housing and social welfare advice. They are open Monday to Friday and have some classes, workshops and activities on a Saturday.

Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers
They provide advice and advocacy services to help clients with issues relating to health, housing, employment and immigration issues at three day centres across Southwark from Tuesday to Thursday. There is a sociable atmosphere at the centre providing clients with the opportunity to build their own social networks. They support families and children with parenting courses in a number of languages, creche facilities and advice about school education. They provide a hot lunch and safe space where clients can socialise. They have outreach workers from Guy’s and St Thomas’s Health Inclusion Team and run drop-in group therapy sessions for men and women. They have a gardening project. They also run English classes for clients and organise social and cultural outings.
Southwark Refugee and Migrant Project
They offer ESOL classes, Back to Employment surgery and social activities. They are struggling with cuts and have been for the last three years.

The Soup Kitchen is open to the public on weekdays for hot meals and drinks; and just somewhere to get in out of the cold!

The Manna Centre, London Bridge is open from 8.30am to 1.30pm, seven days a week, for 51 weeks in the year. Services available every day include: Breakfast and lunch, Hot showers, Housing and welfare advice, Access to computers (Monday to Friday)
