Church Urban Fund

Church Urban Fund Changing lives and communities together. Our vision is to see people and communities all over England flourish and enjoy life in all its fullness.

CUF was established by the Church of England as a practical response to unmet need and has been active in local communities for over 30 years. We work through the Church of England’s local parish networks, and alongside other faith-based and secular organisations, to bring about positive change in neighbourhoods. We work by building trust, empowering local people to have a go at addressing the are

as of greatest need in their communities, and speaking out against injustice. We are committed to working through relational partnerships which bring about long-term, sustainable change by mobilising local people to be the source of the change they want to see and to use the assets already available in their community.

Huge congratulations to Liz Carnelley, who worked passionately as our Director of Partnerships and Near Neighbours, on being awarded an OBE for services to community cohesion in the King's Birthday Honours list.

Liz told us: "I was stunned and delighted to receive this award, and I'm very grateful to all the people I’ve worked with over the years. I feel very honoured."

The work she started and championed goes on, through our programmes and resources that help churches and community groups get people together to build stronger relationships.

"Sharing a meal or walking side by side makes conversation easier." Ukrainian refugees in Birmingham are walking and talking to build deeper, trusting relationships across ethnic, cultural and faith differences.
