Love UnderDogs was set up by animal lovers who wanted to make the world a better place by helping and supporting some of the most unwanted, abused, neglected and voiceless dogs. The journey started with a dog shelter we visited in Romania. Having seen the conditions locally, we had to help… Love UnderDogs was born and we have never looked back since! In 2012 we started finding homes for these animals whose lives had been nothing but pain and suffering, when all they wanted was love. Seeing their destiny change and their eyes, previously filled with sadness and despair, come alive was just magical. What could be more wonderful than to see those faces light up at the thought of life taking a turn for the better? Great things can be achieved when we all work together towards a common goal, creating more happiness in the world. We welcome you to join us on this wonderful journey, it is a fabulous privilege to be able to make a difference and we would like to share it with as many as we can.

In memory of Martin Goodyer ❤️

It is with enormous sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and trustee, Martin Goodyear, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.

For those of us who have been part of Love Underdogs from the beginning, it is difficult to put into words what Martin meant to us.

He was there at the very conception of Love Underdogs, long before we knew quite what this extraordinary journey would become. From those earliest days, he gave us his time, his wisdom, his encouragement and his unwavering support. He understood business, he understood people, and perhaps most importantly, he had an extraordinary instinct for what was simply the right thing to do.

Martin had one of the strongest moral compasses of anyone we have known. He was fundamentally good, fair and decent. When things were difficult, he brought strength. When problems seemed overwhelming, he looked for solutions. And when we needed perspective, reassurance or simply someone sensible standing beside us, Martin was there.

So much of what Love Underdogs became was helped along by his advice, direction and belief in what we were trying to build. We will always be immensely grateful for that.

And his connection to our dogs was personal too. Martin and his beautiful wife Rachel gave a home to Billy, one of the first four dogs we ever rescued, and later to our wonderful Chalmers. Both his boys are now reunited with their dad.

Our hearts are with Rachel Goodyer, and with all of Martin’s family and those who loved him. We are so very sorry for their loss.

For us, we have lost a trustee, an adviser and a great source of strength. But above all, we have lost our friend.

Martin, thank you for believing in us before there was very much to believe in. Thank you for your wisdom, your humour, your steadiness and your kindness. Thank you for helping us turn an idea into something that would go on to change the lives of so many dogs.

You were there at the beginning, and you will always be part of the story.

We will miss you enormously. ❤️

🌟 THEY DID IT! 50KM FOR THE UNDERDOGS! 🌟

A HUGE congratulations to Robyn, Lotta, Eva and Marley from Berkhamsted School, who have completed an incredible 50km walk AND camp-out to raise money for the dogs in our care! 🥾⛺🐶

And as if 50km wasn’t impressive enough… these four brilliant girls have raised over £1,500! 🎉💛👏

We are absolutely blown away by the effort, determination and kindness that went into this challenge. Every kilometre walked and every pound raised will make a real difference to our dogs while they wait for the homes they deserve. 🐾🏡

Girls, you are absolute SUPERSTARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jojo recently celebrated her 14th, yes FOURTEENTH Gotcha Day! 🎉🥳

Jojo’s Dad Mark has been in touch to give us an update on how she’s doing! After going downhill a few months ago, our tri-pawed queen is clearly a fighter with a zest for life because she’s back to her usual self now!

She’s still choosing her dog walk routes, deciding when to lay down & chill, when to walk home & enjoying her food & treats and still feels like she has won the life lottery (she really has!) 💖

Jojo must be around 15 ish now which just proves 3 legged dogs don't have a shorter end date or life limitations! Her Daddy saved her and she saved him- the best kind of love story, we think 🙂
