Bag Books has the best volunteers!! ❤️❤️

We must say a massive thank you to Luis, who has been helping us bring our stories to life by cutting metal pieces for three of our multi sensory stories, even in this heat! 🥵

Every detail in a Bag Book is made with care, and we’re so grateful for the time, skill and support our volunteers give us.

Do you have craft, sewing or carpentry skills? We’re always pleased to hear from people who might like to volunteer with us. Get in touch to find out more. 🥰

Bag Books are recruiting freelance storytellers!

We are growing our storyteller network across the UK.

Can you walk into a room and bring a story to life? Are you warm, energetic and committed to making stories accessible to everyone?

We are looking for freelance storytellers to deliver Bag Books’ multi-sensory storytelling sessions in special schools, day centres, hospices and libraries.

Using our handcrafted multi-sensory books, you will help create shared experiences for children and adults with complex learning disabilities, people who are too often excluded from stories.

Full training is provided.

A New Chapter for Bag Books 💜🧡💛

Since 1993, Bag Books has been creating multi-sensory stories for people with severe and complex learning disabilities, bringing connection, creativity and joy to thousands of children and adults across the UK.

Today, we’re excited to share the start of something new.

We’ve launched a refreshed Bag Books brand and a completely rebuilt website: www.bagbooks.org

Our new look reflects how Bag Books has grown over the past 30 years. Alongside our handcrafted sensory books, we also deliver storytelling sessions, projects supporting special schools and libraries, training, printed resources and a growing range of digital resources for families, schools and care settings.

You’ll notice:
✨ A bold new logo and colour palette
✨ Our new strapline: Connect. Include. Inspire.
✨ A brand new free Resource Hub with downloadable DIY sensory stories
✨ The beginning of a growing collection of storytelling content and resources

And there’s much more still to come!

Over the coming months we’ll be adding:
📚 New multi-sensory stories to purchase
🎥 Demonstration videos and filmed story guides
🛠️ Craft and prop-making ideas
📍 A UK library finder showing where Bag Books can be borrowed

What hasn’t changed is at the heart of everything we do: creating meaningful, inclusive storytelling experiences for people who are too often left out of the story.

As our CEO Lucy Barrett says:

“Bag Books has always been about more than books. It has been about connection, creativity and making sure that people with complex learning disabilities have the same access to the magic of stories as everyone else.”

We’d love you to explore the new website and sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about new stories, resources, videos and updates as they launch.

Thank you for being part of our story 💜
