Charity providing learning and wellbeing support for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults.

Share Community provides training and employment support for disabled people, including those with learning disabilities, physical/sensory impairments, autism and mental health needs. Share also operates two social enterprises, Share Gardening and Share Catering, which provide gardening and catering services within the local community, and provide a safe and supported working environment for our students to gain valuable work experience and employment.

🌱 We’ve got an edible wall, people!! How cool is this?

A big thank you to Farm Urban, who have loaned us this incredible mini vertical farm, using hydroponics to grow fresh lettuce and herbs.

Our Community Café is the perfect place to house it: we can grow fresh food and share it with our local community. 😊

Our café staff are being trained on how to maintain the wall so we can keep it growing fresh vegetables from the seeds we choose. They’ll then share what they’ve learned with our students in an accessible format, so students can take the lead in caring for the wall and develop these new skills themselves.

We’ll see how the wall goes over the next three months. If it’s a success, we hope we’ll be able to keep it on a longer-term basis. 🌿

Work and employment opportunities are an important part of the journey for some of our students, particularly those taking part in Steps into Employment.
Getting the chance to put their skills into practice in a real working environment, meet employers and experience what a job could look like can be a really valuable part of building confidence and thinking about the future. Students Paula, Anna-Marie, Shammah, and Daniel had the chance to explore this earlier in the summer with work trials at BST Hyde Park and they've all since been offered roles! 👏
This was thanks to Bridge Creative, a social enterprise supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults into meaningful employment, thanks so much to everyone there for this fantastic opportunity and well done to our students! 💥

Huge thanks to BaxterStorey who came along to the Share Community Café recently to cook with us in the kitchen 😍

They provided the food and worked alongside us to cook up an amazing 260 meals for our community freezer. Meals were then packaged up and made available for people experiencing food poverty in the local community to collect and reheat at home.

It was a brilliant day of cooking, teamwork and giving back to the community!

✨ A little look back at some of the creative work happening in our art sessions over the summer.

Some of our art students have been part of a project called ‘Jewellery & Symbols I Wear – My Identity Piece’. This has been a wonderfully creative experience where students designed and made their own wearable jewellery, bringing together handmade clay beads and other materials to create something personal to them. They've created bracelets, necklaces, charms and keyrings with each piece a chance to explore identity and express ideas through colour, shape and design.

It's been so lovely seeing the different ideas, creativity and personality that went into each piece 🥰

It's been a while since we shared this but we think it's too good not to mention again! Our very own cookbook packed with healthy eating recipes written in an easy read format for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

The cookbook includes tips on healthy eating, portion sizes and kitchen safety, and it’s completely free to download.

There are also links to our accessible cooking videos, with step-by-step instructions and kitchen safety tips to help make cooking easier to follow.

Such a wonderful day for our art group recently at Blowout, an interactive exhibition and collaboration between ActionSpace and One Trust at the Royal College of Art .

Artist Pardip played 80s disco classics, as we all enjoyed experiencing the interactive pieces with the fabulous artist Linda Bell. Students particularly enjoyed the 'bellowing' experience with the massive silver sheet! Tarik and Daniella added shiny tassles and hoops to the enormous sculptural artworks, and everyone took the grand sculptures on a walkabout dancing and singing along the way.

An incredible experience! 🤩

Music class at Share goes to the next level with Sahra throwing some awesome flamenco moves and Danny keeping the rhythm going on drums with added percussion from the whole group💃🤩
We were totally immersed: first we all watched dancing films, then talked about how it made us feel and described the movements. Then students each suggested a movement whilst everyone else copied from their chairs, then had the chance to do a solo dance to a flamenco track while the rest of the class played along. Sahra was in the zone 🔥👏

Our latest Supper Club brought together students, families, carers, volunteers, and partners for another fantastic evening at the Share Community Café.

There was plenty going on, with Zain serving a selection of colourful, refreshing mocktails, Ru on BBQ duty, and Joe welcoming guests on the door.

A special shout out to student Paula, who independently built the entire BBQ from a flatpack before the event. Anyone who's ever tackled flatpack instructions will know that's no small achievement! 👏

We were also thrilled to welcome our wonderful volunteers from Simmons & Simmons, Annie, Melita and Celestino, who worked alongside students throughout the evening and helped make it such a success.

Our Supper Clubs are a great way for students to showcase the catering and hospitality skills they've been working so hard to develop, and gain real hospitality experience, all while bringing people together in a warm and welcoming community.

We can't wait for the next one!

Big thank you to Jimmy Garcia Catering who joined us in our kitchen at Share Clapham Junction earlier this month. Chef Heidi and Pastry Chef Hugo spent the day working with our catering students to help them prepare lunch for our staff and students. We were in for a treat! We had some amazing lamb kofta on flatbread with homemade mint yoghurt and zingy Greek salad, followed by some fresh fruit tarts. An amazing day, thanks so much 🥰
