Pride Month

June is Pride Month, providing an opportunity to reflect on the importance of ensuring everyone feels respected, valued and able to be themselves.

At Greensleeves Care, we believe every resident, family member and colleague deserves dignity, kindness and respect. Creating inclusive care environments means recognising the different experiences people bring with them and ensuring everyone feels safe and supported.

For older LGBTQIA+ people, accessing information, community support and inclusive services can be especially important. Our blog brings together a range of helpful resources for older LGBTQIA+ people and those who support them: https://www.greensleeves.org.uk/resources-for-older-lgbtqia-people/

Because helping people feel seen, respected and understood is an important part of our mission to help people feel good about care.

Carers Week 2026
This Carers Week, we're recognising the millions of unpaid carers across the UK who support family members, friends and neighbours every day.

Caring for someone can bring both rewards and challenges, and many carers balance their responsibilities alongside work, family life and other commitments. This week is an opportunity to highlight the important role they play in helping people remain independent, connected and supported.

At Greensleeves Care, we're passionate about helping people feel good about care. That's why we support older people and their carers through a range of activities, support groups and drop-in sessions held or hosted at our homes throughout the year. These events offer opportunities to connect with others, access support and enjoy time together in a welcoming environment.

We also understand that carers sometimes need time to rest and recharge. Pre-bookable respite stays can offer reassurance and peace of mind, giving carers the opportunity to take a planned break, holiday or attend to other commitments, knowing their loved one is being cared for in a safe and supportive environment.

To find out what's happening at your local Greensleeves Care home, including upcoming support groups, drop-in sessions and community events, please get in touch with your nearest home or check out their pages. Details can be found at www.greensleeves.org.uk

Weโ€™d like to say a huge well done to Michelle George, a dedicated volunteer at The Orchards in Ely, who bravely shaved her head to raise vital funds towards dementia research.

Inspired by her motherโ€™s experience with Alzheimerโ€™s disease and the residents living with dementia at The Orchards, Michelle raised an incredible ยฃ457 for the Alzheimerโ€™s Society during Dementia Awareness Week.

Michelle said, โ€œI really wanted to do this for my Mum, and my hope is the money raised will help support vital research into treatment and a cure, while also providing meaningful support for individuals and families affected by dementia.โ€

International Nurses Day 2026!

Every year at Greensleeves Care, we celebrate our incredible nurses and the compassion, dedication, and expertise they bring to our residents every day.

This year, weโ€™re proud to shine a spotlight on Anne Hernandez, a Registered General Nurse (RGN) at Glebelands Nursing Home in Wokingham. Anne has been part of the Glebelands family since 2010, making a lasting difference to the lives of residents and their loved ones. When asked what she values most about being a nurse, Anne said:

โ€œSeeing the difference, I make in other peopleโ€™s lives is what keeps me doing what I do. Aside from that, I want to be someone my daughter can look up to.โ€

At Greensleeves Care, our nursing teams provide compassionate, person-centred care that supports both the clinical and holistic needs of every resident. To find out more about our nursing services visit https://www.greensleeves.org.uk/care-options/nursing-care/
