Prospex is a grassroots, Islington-based youth charity, supporting all young people aged 8-19 many of which have had life chances affected through measures outside their control. Through our 3 work-streams we use engaging recreational activities, projects and training to aid in our children’s and young people’s social, personal and educational skills development. This helps them to recognise their

individual abilities, whilst getting to the root cause of any issues potentially hindering their success in life.

• Street Teams – Detached youth work for local young people and community

• Youth Hubs – Community centre based sessions providing a free and safe space for young people to participate in positive activities and training, plus access relevant information and advice

• One-2-One – A relational mentor programme

Our regular projects include Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds, Duke of Edingburgh Awards Scheme, Sports, Cooking, Gardening, Young Leaders Program, Employability Skills and MechaniX

🚨 The Prospex Pub Quiz! 🤯

We’re so excited to be hosting a trivia night on the 19th June, with all proceeds going to our 25th Anniversary fundraiser. Join us for an evening of food and drink, a great pub quiz and a raffle with some amazing prizes!

Tickets are available now on Eventbrite through the link in our bio and raffle tickets will be sold on the day. Get down to the Underground and show off your knowledge, all for a great cause! 🥳

🚨 We’re closed until the 30th of March! Uh oh! 😟

In a surprise to us all, some emergency fireproofing will take over the Underground Youth Centre for the next two weeks. This means we have to close until Monday the 30th of March, but we’ll open just in time for our jam packed Easter programme 🐣

Our Elthorne Youth Hub at N19 3XD is still open every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 8.30pm. We’ll keep you updated if we are able to reopen the Underground earlier and the team is still around by email or phone is you have any queries or need support ❤️

Have you noticed the new additions to the Underground? 👀

1. A new Batak machine to test your lightning fast reflexes! Where will you come on the leader board? ⚡️

2. A brand new electric drum kit complete with digital lessons and over 50 kinds of styles to choose from 🥁

3. The new Prospex challenge board to celebrate our 25th year! Choose a challenge, raise some money and get your name down. Best of all, our challenge board is match funded by a generous donor, which means whatever you raise…will be doubled up to £15k! 🏆

Happy International Women’s Day 💕

As part of reflections on today, we took a look back at where our girls’ work at Prospex began. 

Our very first girls group launched in 2005 and was called The Boston Girls. Led by Sarah and Pamela, they met every week to explore the issues that mattered to them, build confidence, and dream about their futures. They even took a day trip to France! 

Today, we’re proud that our girls-only work has grown to support young women across the whole borough—and it all started with them.
