🤠Hoedown time is fast approaching and our President, Bob Champion will be joining us in his finest Western outfit for the evening on Friday 11th September in Pulborough, West Sussex.

💙Some of our supporters may have read on Bob’s page that he’s been undergoing cancer treatment for early-stage bladder cancer over the past six weeks at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

His treatment has involved a type of chemotherapy delivered directly into the bladder, targeting the treatment in the most effective way whilst minimising side effects. Although he’s feeling tired after the treatment he’s feeling very positive and is incredibly grateful to the team at Addenbrookes for his treatment and care.

We have our fingers crossed that the treatment has been successful and wish Bob a speedy recovery. Here’s Bob with Walter, jockey William Buick’s father at The National Stud in Newmarket celebrating the end of his treatment.

🤠Saddle up for our Charity Hoedown with our President, Bob Champion on Friday 11th September at Lee Place Farm, Pulborough. Organised by our wonderful voluntary events committee, we've got a fabulous evening lined up with live music, dancing, bucking bronco and western-style BBQ.

⛳️ A huge thank you to John and Janet Race, who organised a charity golf day at Heacham Manor Golf Club in support of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Tapping House Hospice. The day was kindly sponsored by DSL Tyres.

Janet Kendal (left) and June raised a fantastic £385 on the ladies raffle and the overall best individual winner of the golf was Olly Bensley, pictured receiving the trophy from Jessica Large.

The day raised over £1,500 which was split between the charities and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who supported and organised such a fabulous event. Proceeds support our pioneering prostate cancer research The Institute of Cancer Research and University of East Anglia (UEA) 💙

Lucky bidders from a recent event enjoyed a fabulous walking tour of the Newmarket Gallops with local insight led by former leading jockey Ian Watkinson. Ian enjoyed great success riding legendary jump horses including Tingle Creek, Night Nurse and Sea Pigeon in the 1970s.

The tour kicked off at the historical stables of St Gatien, named after the Derby-winning horse St Gatien. Built in the late 1800s, the yard has been a successful training base for over a century and is still a thriving yard today.

After the tour, the group enjoyed lunch at the yard with plenty of stories and racing nostalgia from over the years. We are incredibly grateful to Ian Watkinson and Kate Clark who generously donated this exclusive lot to support our fundraising 💙

💥He did it 🏃congratulations to Jack Summers for completing the TCS London Marathon - a challenge he took on with extraordinary determination in memory of his late mother.

Thanks to Jack’s incredible fundraising for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust he raised over £16,000 to support our pioneering cancer research 💙

⏰The countdown is well and truly on for our TCS London Marathon runner Jack Summers who'll be setting off tomorrow to tackle the 26 miles in memory of his late mother. He's been training hard in the lead up to the big day and we wish him all the best 💙
